Meet Lefty Out There

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lefty Out There.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My work was born on the walls of Chicago. I started a decade ago and began primarily in street art. My polymorphic lines are something that I have always created and they have continued to evolve over time as my work develops. I have always been inspired by the community around me — particularly a group of artists that I lived and shared a warehouse space with in the beginning of my career.

In this space we hosted community art events, concerts and even my first solo show that had 400 people in attendance. I also learned a lot about the industry and gained credibility by assisting my good friend and artist, Don’t Fret. From there, I received an artist in residency opportunity at Havas which is where I began exploring branded partnerships. Since then, it’s been a slow burn to where I am today.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have been very fortunate but deserving because I have consistently put in hard work. Obviously, there is the uncertainty of being self-employed and as an artist, you have to constantly re-invent yourself and continue evolving. Due to the competitive nature and over saturation of the internet, there are times where it can be discouraging.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a visual artist specializing in fine art, murals and digital art. My work has spanned throughout the US, Europe and Asia. In the US, my work can largely be seen on murals in Chicago, Miami, LA & Las Vegas or through partnerships with brands such as Facebook, Samsung and McDonalds. I dropped two NFT collections with Nifty Gateway this year, which has been an exciting new chapter in the digital space.

What makes you happy?
Supporting my life doing something that I love makes me genuinely happy. Besides that music, partying, cars and interior design.
