Meet Leah Devora of Studio City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Devora.

Hi Leah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my business in 2006 doing paintings of silence film stars in old Hollywood called silent spirits. I started doing art shows at the Arclight cinemas all over Southern California and the country more narrative, political statements about how we live in a world that’s no longer silent and commercially driven and I was fascinated by the women of Hollywood during that time of the 1920s and 30s. Women ran Hollywood and they were very strong characters and I was fascinated by that I started doing a lot of art based on Those characters of Hollywood in the old days.

I also deal with health condition that I give back to people by having art therapy classes and opened a business called art therapy Café. Where people come, you have conic conditions, depression, anxiety, and they paint they draw to heal from trauma.

I’ve been in LA for 25 years. I live in work in LA as well as Las Vegas. I work with people all over Los Angeles, as well as Las Vegas, creating art and doing shows as well as sound bath and healing with painting. All of my artwork is original mixed media, painting on canvas, metal and HD acrylic. As multi layer with various images, creating more of a holographic effect and dimensional peeling of space and time depth.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have MS and I have to manage my health condition along with learning a business and being creative. Definitely takes a toll because every day is a new day and every day is unpredictable different with my health condition, but I keep pushing through and try to make it work and help others along the way

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I answered that previously, but I’ve done interior mural design for theaters around the country different themes in Chicago, Seattle, Scottsdale, Miami, and Dallas. I was the most proud of that because it challenged me creatively to come up with concepts for different cities and different periods of Hollywood in the movie world and in are sociopolitical times. I specialize in commission artwork for restaurants in theaters as well as private homes and collections.

How do you think about happiness?
It makes me happy to give back. I’ve been volunteering for many years with at risk youth and foster kids creating art and healing using art as well as dog therapy. I’m into animal rescue I foster and adopt older dogs and give them forever homes

It makes me happy to see people create, who don’t feel they have any creative ability and to heal from being creative and express themselves as well as get back to them
