Meet Lauren Randolph of The Wedding Course in Altadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Randolph.

Lauren, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ever since I was in High School, I knew I wanted to be a professional event planner. Our high school had over 4,000 students so planning Homecoming and Prom was quite a production. In order to plan such a large-scale event we worked with a professional planner who helped us source and find venues and decor.

After graduating college, I worked for a few different corporate event companies then eventually landed a job with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. This was the dream! While at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts I had the pleasure of working with numerous couples on their wedding day. But it was from these weddings and during my time at the hotel that I realized how little ‘real’ information there was available to couples planning their weddings. I found myself constantly educating couples and prepping them on what to talk to their vendors about and what to ask them. This is what inspired The Wedding Course, an online course helping couples plan their wedding step-by-step.

My goal is to now share everything I’ve learned from freelancing and working at a hotel with couples so they feel confident navigating their wedding planning.

I started The Wedding Course to give helpful straightforward information from my experience on how to plan a wedding.

‘I like teaching my couples the questions to ask and what they need to know so they can be confident they’re getting the most out of their budget with planning their wedding.’

Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all! It’s been full of ups and downs and twists and turns as cliche as it sounds. I’ve struggled on and off for years with starting this business and growing it while constantly being distracted by other opportunities to consult. And though it’s been hard to remain focused on one end goal day in and day out, when something goes right or hits, it keeps you going. Another thing that keeps me going is the amazing community of entrepreneur peers and friends I’ve gained since starting this business.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Wedding Course – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Millennial couples are getting married in a new age. They are feeling the pressure and impact that social media has on their wedding day more than ever. Guests who are not even present at their wedding will have a front-row seat through social media.

I worked with wedding couples daily at the Beverly Wilshire and learned that most couples had no idea what to ask or how to go about the process of planning their big day. That lack of understanding led many of them to have stressful engagements.

Wedding planning doesn’t have to be overwhelming or scary. It can be something that a couple or family can enjoy doing together once they know how to approach the process. When you know how to plan the perfect wedding, you’re more likely to host a wedding that you and your guests will remember forever.

I teach couples my 5-step wedding planning process on The Wedding Course. In the online course, I’ll teach them everything from estimating an accurate budget based on my exclusive calculations to educating my couples on how to put together the perfect wedding day flow with her unique templates.

I constantly tell my couples, “As the wedding couple, you dictate the energy of your wedding. If you are stress-free, present and enjoy the process, your guests will too.”

I find that I feel most prideful when a couple tells me how helpful they’ve found the online course to be in creating their own unique day that they can truly enjoy.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity that our city has to offer. From the people to their creativity. I love that on any given weekend there can be a backyard wedding that is overflowing with happiness or an 800 person wedding at a Five Star hotel that has the same happiness and excitement surrounding it as the backyard wedding. And both are unique, spectacular and the most magical day ever for the couple saying I Do.

What I like least…traffic!
