Meet Lauren Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Martinez.

Lauren, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a songwriter, producer, and engineer from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I moved to LA 4 years ago to pursue a career in music when I was 18 years old. I started playing piano when I was three years old and went on to learn other instruments such as guitar, banjo, violin. I began producing and releasing my own music two years ago. This opened doors for me when I was put on Spotify Playlists such as New Music Friday Canada, Germany, Switzerland and Fresh Finds. My music was played in stores around the world at places like H&M, Bershka, The Body Shop, and more. I began writing and pitching music for film and tv including shows like Riverdale and Siren. And this year, I was on NBC Songland Season 2 pitching a song to Luis Fonsi in collaboration with Ester Dean. I have an upcoming release with Trap Nation this October! Besides my love for music, I am an artist and I paint jackets and do commissions on canvas. My jackets have sold in stores on Melrose and made their way around the country!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been easy, in fact I don’t think it’s ever been easy. Before I was producing my music, I was spending all of my money on production that I didn’t really like and wasn’t getting anywhere. I worked with some people who tried to take advantage of me financially and also with people who tried to take my work as their own. But I’m actually so grateful for all the obstacles I’ve faced because it’s forced me to pick myself up and figure out how to do it myself and stand up for myself. I taught myself how to produce and eventually learn more of engineering side of things. It’s been lots and lots of hard work!

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a female producer, songwriter, and engineer. I record vocals, edit vocals, make tracks, mix tracks, and write with and for other people as well as for my own project. There aren’t many of us female engineers out there, but I really think that the industry is changing and more of us are starting to breakthrough, which is very exciting. I’m a strong believer in women supporting and empowering other women.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m looking forward to producing and writing songs that will make a positive impact on people or a strong connection with people. I want people to know they aren’t alone, I want to help people heal their hearts through music. I know music has gotten me through so much. I love learning and I’m constantly working on making myself the best that I can be, so I’m excited to keep challenging myself to create new sounds and more music.
