Meet Lauren (Lo) Punch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren (Lo) Punch. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Lauren (Lo) Punch jumped into the cannabis business in 2017 with Weedology Tours. After moving to Los Angeles in 2013 from Dallas, she would often find herself having mind-blowing experiences accompanied by a little Lemon Haze, Lambs Breath or OG Kush and started Weedology to share some of her favorite adventures with locals and tourists alike. With a heavy focus on supporting the live music scene and capturing a three-dimensional view of the LA Cannabis scene, business was rolling for this tour company. She even started providing mobile consumption lounges for cooperate and private events. Fast forward to 2020 and like many tour companies Weedology Tours had to halt and re-evaluate their future. After quarantining Lo had a thirst for live music but was nervous about being inside. With her access to LA’s top musicians and love of cannabis, she decided to create CandleLit Brunch – a cannabis event series. Each event featured a 1-hour live music performance, vendors and had selected cannabis in curated indoor/outdoor venues.

CandleLit Brunch values quality over quantity and caps events at 60 guests, with the exception of 4/20 which maxes at 100. Their tagline, “Exclusive. Inclusive. Elevated.” genuinely captures the vibe.

Exclusive – the name “Candlelit Brunch” is a dog whistle, iykyk. our guests are leaders in their fields, doers, trendsetters.

Inclusive – everyone is welcome, if you know then you belong, no pretense.

Elevated – the cannabis element, the, and the personable experience

The series is doing well after a successful 4/20 event featuring performances by The Regiment Horns, Linafornia, Achee, T. Nava, and D. Smoke. Lo is excited for the rest of this season as she expands brand partnerships. The next event is towards the end of June…and let’s just stay it’ll be a splash.

We all face challenges but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, as a black woman in the cannabis industry, I’ve had to overcome several obstacles. The cannabis and tourism industry is dominated by men and as a newbie to both industries, it was an uphill climb to gain credibility. Lo remembers the moment when she reached out to a San Francisco-based company to coordinate a trip in the Bay. She mentioned the name of her company and they said, “Oh yeah we’ve heard of you, you’re doing great things in LA.” From web design to marketing and researching legislation, Lo has had to dive deep into all aspects of running her business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I just really want to create the kind of environment where people can relax and enjoy themselves. A safe space for musicians to explore and expand. Just a good time. And I want to help brands create genuine experiences for their customers.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m really good at arcade games and am a classically trained cellist.
