Meet Lauren Esposito

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Esposito.

Hi Lauren, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved to LA from Scranton Pennsylvania about a year and a half ago to pursue my dream of becoming a celebrity makeup artist. When I first moved out to LA, I attended Cinema Makeup School and freelanced for Chanel Beauty. In the meantime, I was emailing and dming celebrity artists every week and almost after a year I finally got an answer from the artist that I’ve followed from the very beginning. This artist I never thought I would even be able to meet. She’s the first artist who inspired me to want to become a celebrity makeup artist. And now I assist her, her name is Mary Phillips.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like I said, I was emailing artists every week, almost every day for a year and 95% of the artists I reached out to didn’t answer. There were many of times I was down on myself and didn’t think anyone would answer but my family pushed me to keep going and I’m very grateful for that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a makeup artist and I’d say I specialize in the foxy eye look. I love a good winged liner whether it’s clean and sharp or Smokey. I think what sets me apart from others is that I like working on hooded eyes because I have slightly hooded eyes. A lot of people with hooded eyes don’t know how to even start with eye makeup and I love being able to teach them.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was definitely the shy one out of my friends but I was always a creative. I loved drawing and painting, it was almost like a therapy for me. Art class was always my favorite which is what made me study Art Education in college.
