Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Elliott and Shannon Gaffney.
Shannon and Lauren grew up together in West Chester, PA. They both danced in the same ballet company (Brandywine Ballet Company) in West Chester and dedicated their lives to dance! They became best friends in high school and shared the same dream of opening a dance studio someday. After getting enough experience in Philadelphia, NY and LA, They decided it was time to pursue their dream. In 2013, they opened Danceline LA…making them best friends AND now business partners. The rest is history!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There’s always struggles in business. It can be a roller coaster, but we learn something new each day. Shannon and I also teach so training dancers has it’s challenges to. We love what we do and it always out ways all the difficult times.

DLA offers a youth program and also a youth dance company that performs at Conventions and Half Time Shows. We pride ourselves on giving students a safe place to train. DLA also offers Adult classes, anything from technical classes to Adult Dance Fitness and Cultural classes. DLA also has a training program for dancers ages 18+ that want to get into the dance/entertainment industry and that may be new to LA.
What were you like growing up?
Shannon and myself grew up dancing since we were five years old. We were very dedicated and ambitious and dance was always our first love, we were at the studio every night. We were both very disciplined and loved to set goals for our future. Opening Danceline LA is a way for us to give that to the future generation!
