Meet Laura Alyn Ornelas of Belaspri Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Alyn Ornelas

Hi Laura Alyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began as a public school teacher, where I saw the injustices of the education system firsthand. This experience motivated me to pursue a PhD in Education. During my studies, I found that groundbreaking knowledge was often obscured by jargon, making it difficult for even scholars from other fields to grasp, let alone the general public. This injustice led to the creation of Belaspri Productions. The purpose of Belaspri is to bridge the knowledge that is stored in the Ivory Tower with the knowledge that is found within every individual. To further develop this idea, my dissertation explores the connections between the knowledge found in the inner and outer worlds. To explore better ways to share knowledge, I am visiting different museums around LA to further my polymath journey (@ilainstitute). I have also been the host of Grounded Spirits Podcast since 2020. It is a solo podcast that centers on learning how to stay grounded while shooting beyond the stars (i.e. making your dreams come true). I will be launching my second podcast, ILA Radio, in August 2024. It will serve as a place to gain further polymathic knowledge (knowledge in all fields) by interviewing experts in the fields of the month. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Launching Belaspri Productions has presented a set of hurdles. Building a platform that bridges factual and intuitive knowledge required not only a clear vision but also overcoming skepticism from those who couldn’t see the value in merging these realms. Establishing a new publishing company in a competitive industry meant navigating financial constraints, marketing challenges, and the continuous effort to gain credibility and trust. Despite these obstacles, each struggle has been a learning experience, strengthening my resolve and refining my mission to make knowledge accessible and impactful for everyone. Through perseverance and a commitment to my vision, I have been able to turn challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation.
