Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTisha Wells.
Hi LaTisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
The Modern Day 31 and Jesus & Femininity were born in my apartment while sitting on a blow-up bed in my bedroom in the year 2021. My husband came up with the name for my business/ministry. But more so, how the vision came about was based upon my childhood trauma and the abuse that I’d endured since the age of four, and also being molested around that time as well.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I love to be transparent in this moment, no it hasn’t been a smooth road for me. While stepping into this calling, I stepped on some shallow grounds that became quicksand upon my feet. As I represent myself as a feminine woman of virtue, oftentimes, I’m overlooked, mistreated, misunderstood, left behind, and taken advantage of. Being a soft, elegant woman who holds her composure and upholds meekness, she has to constantly be reminded that “I know who I am,” and I know my assignment on this earth. So, in order for me to be of influence, I have to represent Jesus and carry myself like a daughter that has authority.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have become fortunate to become a Pre-Kindergarten teacher, I worked as intern Director as well. My cousin, who adopted me from foster years ago, managed to open her own facility back in the day, so that’s where I’ve gotten some of my experience when it came to working with children. I love what I do, I just don’t get to teach, I always get to have fun with my students, laugh with my students, act goofy, and love on my students. It keeps me young and healthy at all times. I don’t only specialize in the early childhood education field; I also am a dancer and writer as well. I won my first award back in middle school from scoring a 4.0 on the FCAT persuasive essay. But other than that, dancing is my life; it is my happy place any day of the year. I get so lost in music and dance, especially if it’s a song that I really enjoy that hits my Spirit just right. The moment I pick up my flags I get carried away as if I’m in Heaven dancing in the thrown of God. Other than dance I’m also an Etiquette Coach, I teach biblical femininity, being feminine in marriage, elegance and poise, and how a woman should always represent herself of being “that girl”.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory will always be writing in my diary and hop-skipping to my handphones as I blasted the music through my eardrums.
