Meet Lana Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lana Love.

Lana Love

Hi Lana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Being an artist is about so much more than making music. This career path takes a tremendous amount of hard work, resilience, dedication, and straight-up blind belief. In the beginning, I didn’t know I’d have to forge my own path. I started my professional music journey with no money and no connections. My parents were not super wealthy, they didn’t understand the “artist life”, nor did they know a single soul in the music business. I had no other choice but to figure it out on my own.

Music has always been in my soul – devoted since I was four years old, plunking out Phantom of the Opera by ear on my living room piano. I’ve been blessed to have studied and worked with incredible mentors and have dabbled in many genres. I got my start as a singing mermaid for Disney, toured in over 40 countries and was blessed to sing on NBC’s The Voice on John Legend’s team of artists.

These days, as a songwriter, I’m on a quest for simple words that capture the profound and bitter-sweet symphony of being human.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
At one point, life hit me hard and forced a necessary pause in my musical journey. When making music didn’t feel good, I knew I had to take a step back. Taking nearly a year off to heal allowed me to rediscover the music in my heart. Now, I prioritize my mental health and fostering genuine relationships in both my personal and professional life. Was it easy? Hell no! My journey has been filled with obstacles, but I’ve embraced them as lessons, understanding that the taller the mountain, the greater the lesson. As soon as I reach a peak, I know there will be another, twice as high, waiting for me to climb – it’s “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus on repeat. I’m not leaving with my gifts inside of me…so bring on the next mountain.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I wear many hats – singer, songwriter, content creator, advocate, and educator. I’m most proud of being Self-Made. I’ve built a career on being scared as hell but doing it anyway. Initially, my secret sauce was saying “yes” to every creative opportunity and figuring it out later. While I still stay open, I’ve learned to say “no” more often, prioritizing mental health, nurturing relationships, and working on projects that I can bring all of myself to.

I’m deeply passionate about educating myself and others on owning their intellectual property and copyright. Serving on the board of USIPA in Entertainment and Sports alongside powerhouse Peggy Still Johnson and the Creatives Advisory Board of the Copyright Alliance allows me to send the elevator back down for fellow artists.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck, for me, happens when I’m ready for it. Distractions come, but when I’m living intentionally and honoring my inner guidance system, luck is the result. Creating a solid foundation of love and support was key for me.

Luck is at the crux where the divine meets preparation and a willingness to step into the unknown.
