Meet Lady London

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lady London.

Lady, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up on hiphop. In and surrounded by it. I didn’t always rap. I began my start in poetry around 11 years old. I grew into performing at open mics in high school and throughout my undergraduate experience at Howard University in DC. During my time in graduate school at USC, I dropped my first “rap” video and it went viral. That was really the catalyst behind beginning my career in music.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not smooth. I’ve had to teach myself so much along this journey. Lessons that were learned both easily and hard. I’ve had to master flow, cadence, fluent rhythmic composition, songwriting, and industry logistics. It, truly, has felt like school all over again (haha). But it’s a blessing. Truly an experience worth enduring.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I think what sets me most apart is my versatility. As an artist, I’m not one dimensional. I represent for hustlers. Women/Men. Educated/Street Witty. Hood/Cultured. I have a background that has allowed me, fortunately, to cover the spectrum, in its entirety. Also, my faith in God. I believe it will carry me to and through every pinnacle I plan to reach.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have quite a few, actually. I grew up in a very hip-hop oriented family and area. I can recalled rapping Lil Kim verse, with fluency at age 3-4. My mom and I were very close and I credit her with much of my musical influence growing up. My favorite memory was definitely rapping and dancing to all of the pioneers of the game.

I have found that lady London as an all around women whom in ways not only fear god but also surely love the fact of culture education. I believe truly one day soon their will be a lot more black women like her self whom does not only show sure beauty but also power in being a black women with her natural looks.

I would love to arrange for a meeting, but if it’s is too short notice the month after.

I understand that sure factor of being coloured plus talented but also growing up with an never give up attitude. I am all about that as growing up in this world not many people can accept being different is what makes us all unique but also special so I agree highly the truth is among us whom experience hardship but also up to us when we know our values are worth more then gold or silver..

The key to slavery is like this if one army from a nation falls they all suffer for it so our nation needs to stand as one even if one struggles through worldly false belief instead of trusting God vision for us all to be one nation days to come.. My pray and praise only goes to the most highy as I am only god given child just like everyone else. May God bless you
