Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Adams.
Lisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am originally from Honolulu, Hawaii. I graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a science degree, from Pepperdine University with an MBA, and started my company, L.A. Closet Design in 2007. I saw a home space niche in closets and felt there was no one designing them at the high-end luxury level. I pounced! In 2007, I saw closets as underappreciated, poorly designed spaces and wanted to change that, especially when closets are one of the top three spaces that people consider when purchasing homes. We care about the closet contents, and yet, the actual spaces were usually over-cluttered, poorly designed and under-lit. Today, I am designing luxury dressing rooms and closets around the world–spaces that are organized and that you want to be in!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I started my business in 2007 during the recession…so no, it hasn’t been a smooth road. It has, at times, been a struggle to find the right vendor partners–ones that I want to have work on my projects that require the utmost detail and customer service.
L.A. Closet Design – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company, L.A. Closet Design specializes in the designing and building of custom, high-end luxury closets and dressing rooms. The design aspect is key in the success of my business. Coming from a science background, I am highly technical and meticulous, which lends itself well in the closet space where there are a lot of clothing items and accessories to account for. I also make sure my closets are well balanced aesthetically with function. I also recently launched my lifestyle blog, CLOSETPHILE, which is all things closets, but also mixed with my love for design, travel, fashion and beauty. Since 2007, I have continued to grow the business now working all over the country, including bookings in the Middle East. I have also partnered with a luggage company, Max Mirani, to design my line of carry-on luggage, LAMove Mobile Closet. My designs are what sets us apart from others!
