Today we’d like to introduce you to Kymbra Li.
Kymbra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am from New Orleans and after graduating law school with my JD, I decided to study further for a Master of Laws in England. In 2013, I graduated and was offered a job as a Law Professor in China! I moved to China to teach law and then I accidentally became a rapping comedian! Along the way, I managed to discover and work for Vava, China’s #1 female rapper who is now signed with Warner and has an amazing career ahead of her. While working for her, I was able to secure two major collaborations with Far East Movement and Top 100 DJ MakJ plus a branding deal with Alexander Wang, which made me responsible for bringing Vava to America for the very first time! A landmark moment in history for a Chinese rap artist. Finally, I came home to visit L.A for Christmas 2019 holidays and then COVID hit and now Los Angeles is my new home! During quarantine, I sprung into action and started my own company, MILKDIT CONCEPTS, and I jumped on the OnlyFans bandwagon, where I am pioneering the most unique adult entertainment content on the web.
Has it been a smooth road?
There is a struggle every single day when you are a business owner. There’s no clocking in or out. The job is from when my eyes open to when they close. Having that said, the biggest struggle now is finding balance between work and pleasure and finding a good team to believe in the dream and get this ball moving faster because it’s hard being a creative and a business owner and you must wear many hats. It’s exhausting and rewarding though! Past struggles have always had to do with male comics or music producers who have always given me grief for not having enough ‘talent’, but having a better work ethic than them, which is why I make progress quickly. It doesn’t just take a good idea or talent, it takes execution!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
MILKDIT CONCEPTS is a creative consulting company. We do anything from writing ad copy to songwriting, event planning and talent management/A&R and marketing strategies to voiceovers or content creation. All things creative we got you covered! The name of the company is a play on my initials which are LKD, and the simple fact that I have big boobs and life gave me tig ole bitties, so I milked it.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
No, I do not recommend starting out in Los Angeles. I started in China and I was able to start my own comedy club and really hone my talent before bringing it to a bigger city. If you come to L.A unprepared, you’ll get swallowed up in the game. I tell people focus on your craft for cheap in your hometown or a smaller city like New Orleans, get good, and then move to LA, but don’t waste rent money in Los Angeles when your talent isn’t there yet. Get a game plan and then move and attack!
