Today we’d like to introduce you to Kym D.
Kym, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I became a content creator by accident. In November 2021, I was here for a long vacation and ended up meeting and marrying someone within the first month of vacation! Because I moved from Canada, I couldn’t work yet while my paperwork was processing so I just embraced that season and started posting about the adventures my husband and I were going on. Everything was fresh, new, and exciting for me and slowly my online presence started to grow!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For me, the struggle was the mental and emotional rollercoaster. One day, I feel accomplished, the next day I feel like an imposter. One day I feel like i’m living the dream, the next day I’m questioning whether this is really a career. I’m an overthinker and that’s something I’ve had to check myself on so that it doesn’t hinder me from stepping into amazing opportunities!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m both a DJ and a content creator and document different parts of my life whether it’s a new restaurant i’m trying or a place i’m exploring. Instagram Reels is the vehicle that worked for me in terms of growing my following and I take pride in sharing authentically which I believe has built trust with my audience. I love getting to know the people behind the businesses I visit and am proud of the fact that many business owners have become my friends. For me I believe relationships come first, and the profits will follow. Speaking of relationships, I love bringing community together and once a year I host a “Snacks and Slow Jams” event where I partner with local food businesses for the “snacks” and I bring in my favorite DJs for the “slow jams”.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I use the Bible app daily which helps me stay grounded in my faith and I’m also a big fan of Brené Brown’s books!
