Meet Kyle Flynn of The Blueprint LA in Torrance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Flynn.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kyle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After finishing College at San Jose State and hanging up the Football cleats I moved back home to Torrance CA to begin life in the Real World. At the time my family had fallen on some pretty tough times. There was a personal training facility I used to workout at while in college and I asked if I could start Personal Training there. Fortunately, they said yes and my training career began. At this time I was living out of my car, had zero training clients and if I did find someone who wanted to give me a shot as a trainer I would give away free sessions and ask for a tip at the end. Slowly I started to build my clientele and prove my value to the people I was working with and after four years as a trainer I outgrew the training facility I was working at and started The Blueprint LA in March 2015. My mission has and always will be making an impact on my community by creating a culture built on positivity, teamwork, and human connection. We are currently in our third expansion and will be opening the doors to our newest facility October 1st.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting with zero help. I was never given a client and had to hustle on my own to find people and business. Growing a business with zero help is not an easy task and there are tons of struggles along the way. Not having any investors or start up money has given me a lot of sleepless nights but also taught me how to work in ways I never thought possible.

Please tell us about THE BLUEPRINT LA.
We are a Training Facility built on Culture, Community and Connection. We offer a wide range of group fitness classes that bring people together in a positive, team-like atmosphere. I am most proud of providing a space of positivity where everyone feels the energy when they walk through our doors and accepts one another for who they are with no egos.

I think we set ourselves apart by our personalization. We know your name, we give hugs, we support our members and put together roadmaps to success for everyone that walks through our doors. It’s not just a gym membership. We aren’t just giving you a number and a treadmill when you come in. It’s much more than that and I think that is a big reason why we are changing the playing field when it comes to group fitness.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have stayed in my lane and not listened to all the doubters for the first two years we were open. Before I bought out my initial partner, we were down to eight members. And almost closed our doors. Once I pushed all of my chips forward and took control of the situation I put myself in a position to win.
