Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristine Marcey.
Kristine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I always had a fascination with healthy and beautiful skin. At 47 years old, I decided it was now or never, so enrolled in school to become an Esthetician. My goal was always to open a skincare studio where I could develop close relationships with my clients providing them with my undivided attention and be a rich resource for everything skin. I have been in the same location for 13 years and I am booked 6 weeks out. Because of my sincere interest in my clients, I have retained their loyalty and fact, I still treat the skin of my very first client.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When the economy took a turn for the worse in 2008, spas were closing left and right. Because I had deliberately planned to operate a small, high end, one-woman operation, my business thrived and was not compromised.
Last year, Phase 2 of my business plan was realized when I developed my own anti-aging skincare, KMSKIN. It has been received positively by my clientele and Phase 3 is to develop a thriving online store.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the KM Skin & Body Solutions story. Tell us more about the business.
My clientele is 90% women ages 30-70. Anti-aging treatments, including a variety of chemical peels, is my specialty. I love documenting results through photographs and I am a firm believer that it is more than possible to reverse the signs of aging with regular skincare treatments and a well thought out and prescribed home regimen. I am very proud to have retained a large clientele who trusts my techniques and recommendations.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I feel lucky to be one of the few who has truly found her passion and can make a good living doing what I love.
