Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Buckner.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in a single parent household as an only child – no siblings. I was a teenage mother and struggled to obtain the best life I could for myself and my son. There’s a saying that says, ” what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger… well that’s the story of my life.. literally. Completing high school was such a huge accomplishment for me.
Due to the many distractions, I had, as a child myself, I wasn’t sure if I was going to graduate high school on time. Due to this fear, I immediately enrolled in night school classes at a local adult school and tested for my G.E.D. Months later, I graduated with a high school diploma and a G.E.D. Soon after engaging in the dental field, I decided to attend dental hygiene school. Acceptance into these programs at the time were highly competitive so I decided to move to Georgia to complete my studying there and to be close with my dad’s family. After arriving in Georgia, I was told that my application would lead me into the program, but weeks before the program began, I was told I didn’t get accepted. Not sure why I tried again the following year and was denied again (I had a 4.0 gpa). When I was denied the 2nd time, I was told be a teacher of mine to apply to a school about 1.5 hours away. I called the school and I was admitted pending an in face interview. For two years, I drove 3 hours a day to complete my goal of being a registered dental hygienist. I love telling the story because it truly defines who I am as a woman, a mother and a person entirely. I don’t give up. And if I truly want something, I put my head down and work at it until I have it in my hands. I’ve grown to have patience for the things I truly want and desire into my life by manifesting them into existence.
Before graduating on my way home from school, I was in a horrible accident. My car spun off the road and immediately flung down an embankment. During this time, all I could think about was my son. It was like I could see my life flash before my eyes. Luckily I made it out of the car with the help of passengers from a nearby vehicle and I was beaten up pretty bad, but so happy to have made it out alive. When the officer came to the scene, he told me that I was lucky my car hit the embankment, because after the embankment was a large tree that would of most likely ended my life. I’m so thankful. It wasn’t long before I arrived back to California. But soon after, I was hospitalized due to having multiple blood clots in my lungs due to a popular birth control… I almost died again. My life experiences have molded me into a strong woman who sees obstacles and merely laughs at them. It may take me five years or maybe even ten years, but I’m going to get to where my vision takes me, with no fear. I received a degree in an A.S and dental hygiene while in GA and I’m working on my BS at THE Ohio State University. I don’t need the BS for my career, but its a checkbox thing for me. I have over 20+ years in the dental field and 10+ years in real estate.
Before moving to GA I completed my Real estate classwork and purchased and sold my first property with my then partner while living in GA, Now in real estate full time as I grow my business, I have plans to incorporate other ideas within my corporation. I am now a Regional Equity Ambassador for Keller Williams for Southern California. We are creating a new task force to begin to implement our ideas to help continue social equality within our communities in the real estate industry and beyond. Within my business structure, I assist with the sale and acquisition of real estate properties and business consulting, KB Consulting. I currently also have an app and business venture in development that may take longer to release, now due to COVID -19, but hopefully will see the light in 2020. My home life involves the love of my life, my now 24-year old son, Eric – who is in his last year of law school ) I didn’t do too bad as a young mom) and my beautiful, talented and intelligent daughter age-7 Mariah. I am in such a happy time in my life. Although COVID-19 has hampered many things and at first was allowed to take up space into my future goals, I decided.. nope! 2020 is not canceled and I have work to do! Stay tuned.
Please tell us about KB Consulting.
What sets me apart from others is that I am genuine. My honesty, integrity and just a down to earth good person qualities show thru me instantly. It’s a way for people to trust me due to the way that I carry myself. My laugh is a one of a kind too!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have invested my money in my own business a lot sooner. Having started is better than not starting at all, but I would of have an earlier start. Us women are so resilient and can overcome it all… and now that I think about it… maybe the timing was just right 😉
