Meet Kristin Noelle of Sacred Loom in Redondo Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Noelle.

Kristin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My work with healing energy (which is what Reiki is) seemed to *want* to show up, despite inner and outer circumstances that posed barriers to it.

I grew up highly interested in spiritual and metaphysical things, but by the time I reached adulthood, my spirituality, and my experience of most things, really, had become academic and cerebral. I earned Master’s degrees in Theology and New Testament and read every book I could find on Eastern religions, the various schools of psychology, and even physics, trying to get to the bottom of who we are, why we’re here, and how it all (everything! – you, me, the universe) works.

As you might imagine, I didn’t figure everything out (!). On the contrary, I felt disillusioned with tidy explanations, stuck in my mind, and spiritually and emotionally dry. Around this time, I began to write a novel. Some part of me must have known I needed to get out of my head and into an embodied experience of life and truth because the story that poured out was of two teenage kids with remarkable, embodied gifts. One was highly intuitive, and the other could heal with her hands.

I had never met people with gifts like these and believed I was making them up, but what unfolded blew my heady world apart. The gifts of my characters started to show up in ME.

I started seeing images – in my mind’s eye while awake, and in my dreams while sleeping – of situations that related to people in my life. When I followed up and asked the people involved about what I was seeing, they confirmed that these images were depictions of challenges they were going through – things I wouldn’t otherwise have any reason to know about. I was shocked and, quite honestly, freaked out by this. I decided at the time to shut the door on that inner seeing – to set a strong intention that the visions wouldn’t come anymore. And they stopped.

Within a couple of years of that decision, I remember sitting in my living room one day when a clear sense of knowing came over me. It was like a voice deep inside, rather than one heard with my ears. It said, “Remember that story you wrote? Well, that other character’s gifts are yours, too.” It felt like an invitation to open the door on having healing hands if I would so choose. I instantly felt such joy at the thought that that is when my journey into studying and training in various energy healing modalities began. That was 2009.

It was inside the safe container of Reiki that I opened the door back up on my inner seeing, and intentionally brought my intuition into my work with clients – even working (and continuing to work!) to develop it further. In every session that I do now, I see images that help me know where on the body to focus on and whether the work I’m doing is effectively shifting energy toward health.

The characters in that story were like portals, for me, into awareness that there is a world of truth and experience outside of what our intellects can grasp, and beyond what science can often effectively measure. This is the world I feel called to explore with clients at Sacred Loom, and the bridge I help clients use again and again to get from where they are to where they want to be – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not! My biggest challenge has been an internal one. Having come from such an intellectual place, and having been surrounded by intellectuals most of my life (waving at my husband), I’ve found it difficult to comfortably talk about the work that I do with folks who aren’t already obviously open to spirituality and metaphysics.

For many years this meant living two lives: one as a healer, promoting my work online and in places where people would be naturally into it, and the other as a run-of-the-mill mom – cheering on my child athletes, volunteering at school events, walking my dog with other moms… all without mentioning that other life.

It has only been in the last few years that my fears of being incapable of explaining the inexplicable have finally melted in the warmth of clients’ beautiful transformations. The inexplicable by nature CAN’T be explained, but my ability to own what I’ve seen and shared what I’ve learned in my years of work with clients has become much more natural because of my accumulation of these experiences.

And I’m therefore that much more capable of integrating both of my “lives” and attracting clients from all sectors of my life. To my delight, I’ve discovered that people who I wouldn’t have expected to be interested in Reiki or energy healing more broadly are often actually curious and open when given a chance to learn about it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sacred Loom – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Sacred Loom weaves together two main threads. The first is Reiki/Energy Healing. Reiki sessions take place at my studio in Redondo Beach (walking distance from the shore!), as well as over Skype or phone, any place in the world (these are called Distance Reiki Sessions). I have enjoyed being resident Reiki Master on women’s retreats as well – offering Reiki treatments to participants – and take my table to clients’ homes when they aren’t able to travel to my studio.

The second thread is artwork. I create art that encourages the same energies that flow during Reiki sessions to flow outside of Reiki sessions. I sell my healing art as cards and prints on Etsy (I’m there as SacredLoom), and offer it freely on Instagram, accompanied by reflections and meditations for context (@kristinnoelleart).

I’m proud of the ways that my business honors and celebrates and supports humanity’s deeper layers of health and wellness, which, to my heart and mind at least, are where our greatest, most world-changing work and play happen.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the possibilities for learning and connection that are here. Being surrounded by so many people, with such diverse backgrounds and interests, means there are endless opportunities for exposure to new activities and points of view, and for finding people who resonate with who you are or what your business is about. Friendships with kindreds, enlivening relationships with colleagues, clients who appreciate the ways you want to serve: the opportunities are all here.

The flip side of this very same coin is: Woah! So many people! My ideal scenario would have the city/people opportunities nestled right up against wild landscape, where it would be easy to step off of concrete and onto a trail – to be fed by the quiet, and by the healing and lessons that nature has to share.
