Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Johnson.
Kristin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Theestheticsdiaries because I’ve always had a passion for skincare and beauty. I fell in love with makeup at age 14 and just been going ever since. Performing makeup on others didn’t go well so I took an interest in eyelashes. When covid first started, I went through a lot of stuff that really broke me down and built up into a better person. I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression. My friends and family helped me get out of my dark hole and motivated me to get strong again. I am currently majoring in nursing and plan to take an esthetician program. My career goal is to be a cosmetic nurse. Currently right now, I only service eyelashes, but I am hoping to expand in services and location-wise.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it hasn’t. With my anxiety and hectic college schedule, it was hard. One thing a lot of people tend to forget about running a business is money. If you don’t have money, it can be challenging. I kept saying I was going to start lashing in April, now it’s August and I am just barely starting. One thing I can say is to give advice to those who want to start their own business or accomplish something is to always stay focused. Never get sad or bent out of shape when things don’t go your way. I always look at a minor setback being a major comeback. Focus on yourself and believe in yourself. You are your own enemy. Think positive and positive will come! It takes time, but it is definitely worth the ride!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Esthetics’ Diaries?
The Esthetics’ Diaries is a esthetician-based business. Currently, I service in lashes and plan to expand with more services soon as I begin esthetician school in September. I am currently based in the Inland Empire due to schooling. I take pride in everything I do. I learned and got certified from one of the best lash techs in the LA area. I don’t look at the money to motivate me, I look at the opportunities to motivate me. I want to eventually work with celebrities. All of my business proceeds are going towards nursing school so I can become a cosmetic nurse.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
After living in LA, I really like how diverse it is. It is definitely a city of opportunities. Every person I came across was about business and improving themselves. One thing I do not like about LA is the traffic. The 405 is the worst! If traffic wasn’t bad, LA would be more favorable far as commuting.
