Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Hardwick.
Hi Kristin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I had always had a keen sense of style and creativity. I adored huge fashion brands such as Chanel, Betsey Johnson, and Burberry. When I got to about age 14, a brand new world was introduced to me;…modeling that is. I did runways, photoshoots and even got to meet some amazing creatives in the fashion industry. Some of which I still keep in close contact with today. It wasn’t until high school till I realized I had wanted to enhance my passion even further by pursuing fashion as a career.
Four years later (after high school graduation), I was persistent to attend my dream college “Mount Mary University”, to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design. Throughout my college journey, I not only learned so many new things but also got to experience a whole new world of fashion. I made beautiful garments, showcased collections, and even interned for well-known designer “Garo Sparo” from season 17 of Project Runway in New York City. I was and still am so grateful for these wonderful experiences and opportunities that I have encountered throughout my career so far.
With graduating this past May, I was able to make many great connections throughout social media, designing/modeling, and my internship. Through those connections, I had the privilege to showcase in even more shows across the U.S., some of which include the “Red Heart Association” located in Milwaukee, WI., NYFW in New York City, and “The Maximum Exposure Fashion Series” that took place in St. Louis, MO. All of which were such fun experiences and really eye-opening for new opportunities. While I am currently working on various projects and upcoming shows, I can’t wait to further develop my brand “Kristin Hardwick” into something the world has never seen before. I am all about inclusivity, character, and glamour. All of which I want my brand to embrace as time goes on.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Throughout my journey, I definitely had times of discouragement and self-doubt. I am sure I’m not alone in this either. As one of my long-time idols and fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn, once said, “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says I’m Possible”. Although we all go through tough and challenging times, it is good to keep your head up high and strive with confidence.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Fashion Designer located in Milwaukee, WI. I had recently started my own brand called “Kristin Hardwick”, which specializes mostly in women’s evening wear. I like to describe my line as being more classic but with a modern twist. With this brand, I am most proud of how far I have come and how much I have accomplished, especially for just starting my career. Generally speaking, I think what sets a designer apart from others in general is their unique personalities because in the end, that is where the creativity comes from. It truly speaks for itself within each and every garment.
What matters most to you?
I would say there are so many things that matter so much to me, it is hard to pick just one. If I had to pick just one, I believe feedback matters most to me. When I get constructive criticism from others, I take it as a “learning curve” or a way to improve because in the end, everyone’s opinion matters; especially potential consumers/buyers. If they don’t like it, then I don’t like it. I always want to make sure everyone feels good and looks good in each and every one of my garments.
