Meet Kristen Terry of Alpha Fitness Body Therapy and Sexology Dance Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Terry.

Kristen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been featured on well-known TV shows and film including CW’s Ringer with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Young and the Restless recurring, Latin Billboard Awards, International Latin Ballroom Performances, off-Broadway musicals, leading role in Kenny Ortega production in Las Vegas who hand-picked Krissy, Vlado Footware (sponsoring Krissy and her Dance Troupe), Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Fashion TV Asia, and toured my original music overseas produced by some of the music industry’s biggest Grammy winners (including Bruno Mars, Beenie Man, Trey Songz, Akon music, to name a few) throughout 31 cities in Asia as a headlining performer and creative director. So, business and performance is in my blood since childhood.

As an athlete and dancer from a small town in Ohio, saw my future performing and working in entertainment and have since worked tirelessly to achieve this dream. From living overseas and other countries I’ve been fortunate enough to pick up several languages which have catapulted my career to endless international opportunities in entertainment and business.

All I’d accomplished during the time was incredibly exhausting and exhilarating. But this came with a price. My health declined, I sustained many orthopedic injuries, my 10-year relationship to a sports public figure suddenly came to a traumatic end, and as an injured headlining entertainer…I lost all funding to keep my overseas production afloat. I went from feeling on top of the world to all of it crumbling down and not having a place to live. It was the lowest time of my entire life. But I never let anything defeat me regardless the adversity and feeling of loneliness. So, I started from the ground up. I got a few certifications and licenses in fitness, corrective exercise, sports manual therapy, and brushed up on my business skills in a new line of work for stability and peace of mind. After getting all my essentials, I then opened a new business in the states for Mind, Body Therapy/Fitness and Dance for performers, athletes, and women including Fox Studios, American Horror Story, NBA and NFL clientele, and A-list Hollywood producers and writers. I did and still do all the hands-on work while keeping both businesses afloat. I realized it was my calling to help people while still able to dance and perform on a smaller scale.

From recent life experiences and those of my past, I became inspired to tell my story by motivating and empowering other women through movement and mantras. My goal was to create a step a day towards perfect self-love and confidence which will in turn create an abundance of emotional, financial, and physical success.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been hell at times. I always get anxiety, and suffer from sleepless night. I second guess my decision going into another career outside of performing often and wonder why I’m not living in a mansion and still struggling. But then I get the reminders from my clients of how I changed their lives and how I inspire them. This is priceless. I just want this voice to be heard to the world.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Having a dual company has its challenges. But they both specialize in helping people. It’s glorious! We at AFBT (Alpha Fitness Body Therapy), specialize specifically in corrective exercise, cardio bootcamp, personal training, and sports massage therapy. We are the go-to pain management company for weekend warriors, professional athletes, dancers, and simply those suffering from posture map-alignments from sitting at a desk all day. We are set apart due to our boutique style of business catering to the elite, and general public. We also tour and train with Recording artists to get them performance ready, but most importantly, keep them healthy. As a woman owned business, we still see many professional athletes as well which is statistically uncommon in the industry.

Sexology Dance Fitness specializes in women empowerment through movement. It was created for ALL women to be empowered and encourage health and confidence. This new movement provides therapy for mind, body, and spirit to each and every type of woman so that she may release her inner alpha and be the best version of herself without doubt or judgement. Inspired from real life experiences and struggles, Sexology Dance Fitness was created to embody the everyday woman to feel sexy, confident, healthy, FIT, empowered, inspired, and most importantly, unit as women and love oneself unconditionally.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
LA is the best place to truly brand my type of businesses. Once you get established in a metropolis like LA, you will flourish anywhere. IF someone is starting out and is business savvy and not afraid of rejection, and fearless to go after what they want…then yes…start in LA. I got my start in Mainland China. There’s no place like China to start a business. It’s perhaps the most challenging place on earth to start and do business…especially in Mandarin 😉

LA is an amazing place for all entrepreneurial minded individuals. It’s a think outside the box environment which many Americans fear. Endless opportunity in LA if you have access to it.
