Meet Kristen Gray of House of Gray Studio in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Gray.

Kristen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I moved to SoCal in 2010 for college where I attended Cal State Northridge and graduated with a BA in Journalism. I spent a lot of time in LA with internships at PR firms and working for the Recording Academy, it led me to many connections in the entertainment industry. I don’t have a liner path but every single connection and relationship I built has led me to my current success as a creative studio founder.

I’ve done it all. I’ve been a talent assistant, a concert photographer, a customer service manager, an art consultant & more. All of the soft & hard skills I acquired along those journeys allow me to operate in any industry.

After ten years living in LA, I decided to travel to SE Asia and I currently reside in Bali, Indonesia (due to COVID).

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been all over the place. So many highs and so many lows. I’ve lost my life savings and gained it all back.

All I can say is, the life that I wanted was always a possibility. It was just a matter of believing in it and being an active participant in my life.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a graphic designer and creative consultant helping entrepreneurs and small business owners develop their brand identities and how they show up in the world. I also have clients who require virtual assisting in their creative endeavors so I offer retainers to assist them.

I specialize in logos, brand strategy and social content but we offer an array of different services under the umbrella of graphic design. Our clients range from professional athletes, recording artists, chefs, coaches and more.

I am very proud of my team and the process of going from me to we. We have grown so much in our abilities and our ability to adapt to the current trends and flexible with any market has been great.

We approach brand identity using emotion, skill, and solutions. Of course, we want to maintain eye-catching aesthetics but our pride is in being able to solve problems and offer solutions is what sets us apart from others.

What were you like growing up?
Born in The Bay Area and raised in Sacramento, CA I grew up in a full house – with three sisters and a baby brother. It was a busy life as we all played sports and there were a lot of moving parts. I was a student athlete, the coaches kid, and I was good. So naturally, I became a silent leader, leading by example.

I didn’t pursue sports past high school because I had a keen interest in writing and telling stories (hence the journalism major). I had a passion for sharing with others I was even published in the local newspaper & placed in literary competitions. It was in my teen years that I developed a knack for helping others tell their story.
