K’rah and Kyilah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Jacs Designer Earrings was born in the Summer of 2019. However, the story connected to our product is more than two decades old. The very first pair of Jacaranda Earrings were made in Riverside, California just before the turn of the century. They were a simple design with nothing more than a few choice beads and a hand-crafted hook. My mom made them as a prototype for my Dad to see. When he saw her wearing them, he asked, “what are those made from?” “Those jacaranda leaves I told you about, she responded. They are everywhere and they look so unique, she posed. Immediately the wheels of intrigue, creativity, spirit and hobby began to turn.
My parents quickly put together a marketing concept, collected jacaranda pairings, selected a target audience, made 1000 uniquely different pairs as a hobby and that was the end of it! Well, that was the end until my sister and I decided to revive the idea. While visiting our aunt in 2015, we saw an extensive collection of our parent’s old jewelry line. The earrings had lasted for more than 20 years! They were beautiful and still in the original packaging. We couldn’t believe it! I mean, they had casually mentioned the hobby but we had no idea they were this beautiful. As aspiring designers, we knew our parents had created a pathway for us to enter the amazing world of fashion and design. We knew we would have to tweak the product to bring it into the 21st century but we were up to it!
So we went to work! We researched the jacaranda. We played around with company names, gathered our savings, took a simple online class on how to make hand-crafted jewelry, researched beads and stylings and searched for competition. We then pitched the idea to our parents as a simple fund-raiser. Regardless of what our parents said, we were going to make those “one of a kind” earrings. We were pumped, excited, driven and focused! We were ready!
This was only the beginning of our journey as entrepreneurs entering the world of fashion. The response to the launch of our product line in the Summer of 2019 was phenomenal! What was once a hobby has become a fast-growing fashion accessory. Only this time we plan to keep it alive and running for many years to come. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Actually, to our surprise, it has been a relatively smooth road. Since we first walked out the door with our product, JACs’ Designer Earrings has been taking off. Countless reviews, people love our social media presentation, some arts and crafts shows have seen complete sellout of our inventory and people have simply loved our product!
The second part of the question comes down to wording for us. We don’t see struggle when it comes to being new-age entrepreneurs. We face inventory challenges and motivation issues on some mornings but struggle? Nah! We just having fun and fashion! If it ever becomes a struggle, then we would not be able to deliver the “spirit promise” of our product. Healing, wealth, rebirth and wisdom.

We are JACs’ Designer Earrings, a true family endeavor. My mom, dad and our two younger siblings all contribute in some way to the business of JACs’ (pronounced hocks; hox) Designer Earrings. We are a travel family on a 50 State journey and this hobby turned business has become our baby. We specialize in turning simple jacaranda tree-pods into beautiful, ravishing, glowing fashion accessories for women of all ethnicities… and a few men too…
We are known for our “one of a kind” unique hand-crafted earrings that instantly become conversation pieces and compliment getters the moment our clients put them on. We are most inspired by the energy and feelings of excitement that many people claim they feel when wearing our product. JACs’ are made from individually hand-picked jacaranda tree pods! Many are arted with sayings, words of empowerment, cultural drawings, creative designs or natural rugged. Designed in many different shapes and sizes, JACs’ are dressed with sterling silver or gold postings accented with fine bead selections which complement the featured piece.
