Today we’d like to introduce you toDr. Kourosh Rahimpour.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Rahimpour. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Like many other young dentists, I began my career working for a large Corporate Dental Company. In this setting, I worked in different locations every day of the week, and developed little or no connection with any of my patients. As I gained more experience I began working at some private dental offices, which were a completely different model. These offices were much more personal, but lacked the resources and staffing to maximize patient care.
I realized that each office style had its own strengths and weaknesses, and I decided that I wanted to one day have my own office utilizing the best of what I had learned from my experiences. What if a dental office felt like family, with only one doctor there every day and a friendly staff that you felt comfortable with. What if that office had flexible hours like one of the bigger companies, so that you could make appointments after work or on Saturdays. What if you could bring your children and grandparents with you to the same office, and all be cared for by the same team. This is how I wanted my office to be.
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course in the competitive Southern California market, the idea of starting my own dental office was extremely intimidating. Right after signing my lease, I actually had an older dentist friend say “wow you’re going to open your own business from scratch? You must be very brave!” Not exactly a vote of confidence. However, I truly believed in my vision, and I felt that if I surrounded myself with a quality staff, I could really create something special.
Like any new business, the first year was extremely difficult, and I, unfortunately, acquired my first grey hairs during this time. However, as time went on, more and more people loved the office, and sent their friends and family to see me. This was not only a tremendous honor, but it helped our office grow in a relatively short time.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with OC Family Dentistry – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am extremely proud of the way my staff and I take care of our patients. Every patient that walks in the door is treated like family, and we try to make their experience as pleasurable as possible. In today’s fast food world, we often miss out on this type of personal touch. However, I believe it is particularly important in dentistry, since many patients are extremely nervous just being there. Being kind and sympathetic to our patients makes them feel at ease and makes that dreaded trip to the dentist become an enjoyable one.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the cultural diversity of Southern California. If only there was a little less traffic…..
