Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirsten Collins.
Kirsten, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Kirsten a Canadian born LA based Multi platinum singer- songwriter has always been drawn to sound. Her parents John and Stacey would put headphones on her mom’s belly before Kirsten arrived into the world to prepare her for the rest of her days. At 18 months she sang her first song on key “Twinkle Little Star”. At age 6 Kirsten wrote her first full song called “ take me to the moon” little did she know she would actually get there. Fast forward to 2024. Kirsten had 13 songs and 5 digital art pieces land on the moon Feb 22 2024 for the first museum on the moon along with 222 other fabulous artists. Kirsten was the first music artist to be selected out of all 222 which included names like Michael Jackson, timberland etc. She quotes: I’m already on the moon I’m shooting for the stars”.
As a young child Kirsten would join her mom on stage. at 5 years old her mom gave up her stage (she was a performer) for her little girl to sing in front of 5000 people Kirsten loved it. It was an invitation to begin her legacy. She performed many places all over Canada including miss teen Canada the stampede etc. At age 14 John and Stacey wanted to see if what Kirsten had was beyond what was already done. so they packed up a car full of kids and all 6 of them drove down to California. Kirsten’s first La studio experience was with the incredible BK known for forever Chris brown Disturbia Rihanna etc. from there she wrote with many Grammy winning & nominated producers and song writers.
Kirsten has many personal releases, her most recent one “Prison of desire” on all streaming platforms.
Kirsten has performed at SxSW, Coachella, crypto arena, EDC and so many other iconic venues. Kirsten found herself in the fabulous world of K-pop and has shown the world it aligns with her soul as her first ever placement was Savage & I’ll make you cry by Aespa. Kirsten wrote these songs before the group existed so she holds a close appreciation for the magical girl group. Kirsten is only beginning!! There is so many highs and lows in this industry but Kirsten proceeds to pursue her passion because it elevates her soul,
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing is a fully smooth road. I believe everything requires full devotion of experiencing the highs and the lows. Creation is receiving, and then expression of what you’ve encountered. There have been many moments crying in my closest or frustrated in my car. Many moments of rejection and disappointments. I’ve had to overcome fear and build a divine strength to look at what I do in new perspectives.
Waiting is probably the hardest lesson of all. Accepting that not everything is meant to be in “my” timing and life has a plan and a purpose. I trust that God uses each opportunity to stretch my abilities so I can have longevity. It’s important to remember my identity is not in what I do so it can’t be taken from me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an artist by nature. I specialize in making things beautiful. I am a song bird with Melodie’s for days. it pours out of me like a waterfall. I’ve had to learn to hone in so I can finish my projects. I’m known for my voice and I am most proud of the fact that I am surrounded by so many genuine talented and inspiring people that I get to work with every single day.
I’m an independent artist ready to tap into any opportunities that come my way even if i don’t fully understand it yet, I’m usually a guinea pig for ideas 💡 lol
I like to be a pioneer in the entertainment industry.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
VR is what I’m currently focused on. I have recently built a virtual world with the incredible company called scenez on meta. With a high tech almost identical avatar of me captured in a volumetric Capsule. Im prepped for fans to come join me for incredible VR concerts.
I fully believe In collaborative work. Throughout the many years in this industry I’ve seen so many changes. I need to always be open and willing to learn. I remember when it was unprofessional to be on youtube as an artist so I would showcase my songs on kid country along side JB and Tory Kelly. Then social media became your only ticket in lol so I was one of the first people verified on IG FB Twitter and helping start and build musically ( now TikTok) I hopped on as an innovator in the music NFT space and laugh at how many times this industry quickly moves. It def keeps me on my toes.
I think change gives opportunities to develop new skills and keep my mind and craft active. It’s always exciting to witness what’s next.
