Meet Kirk Hawkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirk Hawkins.

Kirk Hawkins is the host of the weekly podcast, Home Made With Kirk Hawkins.

Serving buyers and sellers across Southern California, Kirk Hawkins brings his reputation for impeccable service to Beverly & Company. He has also worked at The Agency and Coldwell Banker.

Kirk has sold 43 properties worth more than $42,086,033 across Southern California since he got his real estate license in 2016.

Before making his transition to real estate, Kirk worked as an award-winning news anchor, reporter, and correspondent for ABC News, NBC News, KCBS/KCAL and most recently, KTLA, where you can still find him on the air today. Over the course of his career, he has appeared in feature films and television shows playing himself. He has also covered hurricanes, wildfires, and notable entertainment milestones, including the death of Michael Jackson. Kirk has been recognized by the L.A. Press Club for his breaking news reporting, and his feature story about a wayward marmot earned him an Edward R. Murrow award.

Helping viewers understand complex issues was Kirk’s focus as a journalist, and he leverages that same skill as he facilitates the real estate process for his clients. Just as he protects the privacy of his sources, he maintains strict confidentiality standards for his clients. Trust, energy, and patience are hallmarks of his work ethic as he tirelessly investigates and researches opportunities for prospective buyers and sellers.

A native of Agoura Hills, Kirk graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with degrees in Political Science, Communication, and History.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
After I graduated from UC Santa Barbara, I jumped right into television. Working at stations in Spokane, Orlando, and Charlotte before coming back home for good at KTLA in 2014. Before I made the move back home to Los Angeles, I met with some of the news networks. And they all essentially told me the same thing. They loved my news experience but wondered if I could bring something else to the table. Some correspondents at the time were experts in vegan cooking, interior design, or even CrossFit. I, unfortunately, had really limited my expertise to covering the news of the day that included politics, entertainment, breaking news and other topics. So I started to do some soul searching.

The more I brainstormed, the more I thought about getting my real estate license. After all, I eventually wanted the opportunity to own my own home. And the more research I did, the more excited I got. Owning a home is not just about nesting and carving out your own home in the world, it’s also about building equity, and an asset that ends up being that nest egg that can provide for a healthy and secure retirement. Long story short, I got my license and did the work to start to build a business. It is harder than anything I’ve ever done but it is also the most rewarding. While this isn’t the path I thought my life would follow, I have never been happier. I’ve also been fortunate to combine my interest and passion for television with my passion for real estate and I now host a weekly podcast. My goal is to share what I’m learning and hopefully make a difference for buyers, sellers and renters across Southern California as they are trying to find a place to live or make an investment.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
As part of the podcast, I am sitting down with HGTV hosts, interior designers, actors, authors, entrepreneurs real estate professionals and other fascinating guests. They all weigh in on the real estate process as part of conversations meant to inform and enlighten. Whether you’re renting, buying or selling, I’m hoping that this can be the place where you can learn how to make your dream home a reality. A lot of the guests are people I have come across during my work in residential real estate. I believe they all have little takeaways that can really help people with their new home searches. I really want to be known as someone who is trustworthy and honest when it comes to guiding clients through the real estate process. It’s a serious process that is also fun. I’m also constantly learning more and love to be cutting edge and as innovative as possible.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m really looking forward to continuing to work with clients and continuing to build the audience for the podcast. I would love to continue to create content that informs and enlightens the real estate process. It’s not as complex as many think and it can do great things for your long term financial goals. If I’m being honest, I think I’m living my best life. I’m really happy and fulfilled and have never been happier than I am right now!
