Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Toomer.
Kim, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My mother, Dr. Barbara Donahue, MD, was the owner of this practice for over 30 years. Unfortunately, we lost her to cancer in July of 2018. Me and my two brothers made a decision to keep the family business going. My mother had a thriving business in Culver City, View Park and Inglewood.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The transition has been mostly smooth. We have added multiple practitioners to the practice. Our main challenge has been marketing.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the West Jefferson Medical & Wellness Group story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a considered to be a medical spa. We have a staff that consists of a medical doctor for weight control, chiropractor, massage therapist, esthetician and an intuitive empathic healer.
I am most proud of our family continuing on my mothers’ life’s work.
What makes West Jefferson Medical and Wellness (WJ Med Spa) unique is our amazing staff. All of our practitioners are highly skilled and truly love the work they do! The working environment is very harmonious and that amazing energy is passed along to our clients. We get lots of positive feedback about of staff as well.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
This experience has taken a very tough situation with our mom and turned it into a labor of love. I feel extremely lucky to be given this opportunity to carry on Dr. Barbara Donahue’s legacy.
We feel extremely lucky to have acquired such an amazing staff very early on in this process.
