Meet Kim Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Rose.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am a modern minimalist artist who lives in Los Angeles, CA. My heart and soul is not only in art but also finding the deeper meaning of how art can contribute to the greater good. My personal mission is to use fine art as a way to bring funds and awareness to the beautiful kids in Tijuana, Mexico. Because of this, I founded Mission Marisol, a non-profit dedicated to uniting artists for a good cause. You can learn more about why I founded it at www.KimRoseArt.com/mission. The mission is in memory of my mother, Marisol, who inspired me to follow my creativity and to help give back.

Please tell us about your art.
My art branches into two main categories. One is minimal linework, and the other is abstract fine art. I know that not everyone can afford fine art, so I started creating minimal linework so that anyone (no matter income or status) could collect some of my art.

My art prints are inspired by my love for minimalism. All of them represent love in a different form. Some like “Kiss,” my first viral design, resembles love between two people. Others, like “Warrior,” resemble love for self. “Lioness” resembles a mother’s love for her child. Many of my designs revolve around females badasses, as I want to encourage young girls to reach for their goals (no matter how big). You can find my prints at www.KimRoseArt.com/shop.

My fine art pieces are a labor of love. Many of them stem from an emotion I felt while creating the piece. You can watch a tutorial video of my general process on my YouTube, Kim Rose Art.

I am blessed to have collectors from all over the globe.

For our first ever Mission Marisol charity art auction, I hosted a group show featuring my pieces with other artists. Some of my pieces auctioned there were created on site with the kids in Tijuana, Mexico. They created the base layer, and I finished the pieces in my studio in LA. I will be having my first solo show at a gallery in Vegas (located in the Palazzo – keep an eye on my Instagram for official release date)! About half of the proceeds from that show will go to charity. I have had a couple of months just to brainstorm and imagine my new pieces, so very excited about this new series.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
I remember it was odd when I first started working for myself. I am very much an extrovert and was afraid I would miss all the human contact from my previous job and having been a student. The beautiful thing is when you work for yourself, you can seek out who you want to seek. I feel like not enough people are using social media to be very social. I have an army of artist friends (some in LA, other all around the world). It is so much fun talking to them, supporting them, watching them grow like flowers. 🙂

Having said that, not all your community needs to be in your profession. Work/life balance is important. Find who makes you happy and invest love (and a lil bit of sass) in them.
