Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Peeples.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kim. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my work career many years ago helping my dad run his chain of yogurt stores. I was 21 and had responsibility for six stores in VA. I really learned a lot and wanted to run my own business as a result. However, when it came time to understanding the P&L’s I knew I had a lot to learn and I didn’t want to be dependent on anyone else. I decided it was time to get back to college, so I moved to FL to attend USF and majored in accounting. During my college years, I took a job with the Home Shopping Network. I started as an AP Clerk and over the next 23 years, I worked my way up to VP of Budget and Strategic Planning. Loved HSN, but back in 2013, I was reminded that I started my journey wanting to own my own business. That year I made the leap into the world of vomFASS! vomFASS is a European Market and Tasting Room specializing in Olive Oils, Balsamics, Craft Whiskies, Artisanal Spirits and so much more!! We opened in fall of 2013 and have had much success in the Claremont market. We loved it so much, in 2019, we expanded into the Ventura, CA market. We took over a vomFASS location from other owners that wanted to retire. So far so good at that location. Four blocks from the beach makes it a desirable drive from Claremont!!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been fairly smooth. The biggest challenge has been trying to run two locations and give both the same attention and love that I gave to the original location. I need to clone myself.

The quality of our products is what makes vomFASS so special. We have the finest and most unique product offerings. You can come in and taste a single malt whisky from India one minute and then jump over to taste a balsamic from Modena Italy. Next, you might be trying Pepper from Tsamania. It is all crazy good. We also offer classes from Whiskey 101 to Appetizers with Kim to hands-on cocktail classes and more. Our events/classes change every month. It is a neat little shop located in downtown Ventura and the Claremont Village.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love all the different areas of LA and LA County. I think it is perfect spot for a business. The people in LA are all open to trying new things and that is important.
