Meet Kiara Randolph of Wynn Nail Spa in Mid-Wilshire and Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Randolph.

Kiara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We opened our first store at 5600 Wilshire in 2010. We opened our second store at Sunset + Vine in 2013.

AB Design Studio, an award-winning architectural firm based in Santa Barbara, conceptualized the spa’s contemporary space while New York City entrepreneur and business partner Eric Wynn lent his name to the business.

The founders’ vision to create sophisticated, high-end nail salons that welcome clients from all walks of life. We create packages to suit the needs of our diverse clientele — everything from mani-pedi parties to weekly essentials to getting the latest trending nail design for a photo or video shoot.

Our stores have been the venue for TV commercials and shows like HBO Girls, Basketball Wives, Rica Famosa Latina and Dance Moms.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve been fortunate. We started with a solid team of partners with a shared vision. We knew from day one what we were trying to accomplish — delivering the best nail service experience possible while tapping the latest trends in technology and social media. There has been consistency and continuity across all aspects of the business from the architectural design to the operational processes and the marketing initiatives.

For the two locations, we had very specific requirements for size, high ceilings, good sidewalk visibility, solid foot traffic, convenient parking and proximity to homes and businesses with synergies. After visiting more than 50 sites, we selected a mid-Wilshire location along museum row for our first store. Our Sunset+Vine location along the Hollywood Walk of Fame also perfectly fits the bill. Once we started construction, navigating the city’s permit approval process was probably the most challenging part since each review required another week’s wait even for the smallest modifications.

We’ve been especially fortunate when it comes to staffing. We have very skilled technicians working for us which attract the most discriminating customers which, in turn, attracts even more talent. We also have receptionists that are friendly, organized, and social media-savvy which allows them to connect with like-minded customers in the media industry.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Wynn Nail Spa – what should we know?
What sets us apart is our ability to accommodate both individual and large group requests. We regularly host corporate mani-pedi parties, birthday parties and bridal showers. We also work well with media companies — from start-ups making the first documentary for film festivals to established Hollywood filmmakers and reality TV show producers scouting and filming a scene. Through it all, the individual who walks in or makes an appointment still get VIP treatment from our staff.

We’re also very proud of the opportunity to partner with schools and non-profits that impact the local community. We often attend their events, advertise in their programs and sponsor their raffles to make it fun for everyone involved.

Finally, we work with a stellar team of brand ambassadors. They are our most loyal customers who voluntarily promote our services to their friends, business contacts, and social media contacts. In return, we promote them on social media, tap their expertise for marketing initiatives and get them involved with our marketing events and community outreach.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
We get such immense satisfaction when customers stare at their nails admiringly or post them on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #WynnNailSpa. The nail salon industry is a business of smiles. By delivering excellent nail services consistently with a smile, we earn smiles. And, that’s the best measure of success.
