Today we’d like to introduce you to Kianu Reed.
Kianu, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
First thing is first, I am a music artist & entrepreneur discovering ways to create multiple sources of income to pursue my lifestyle of financial freedom. Now in the middle of the current pandemic, I guess you can say it was a blessing in disguise to help focus on my hustle with creating music and now launching my new clothing brand Groovy Tribe as a representation of myself a young multi-talented entrepreneur expressing my life as an artist and African American in America today. It’s quite simple how I got started I just took the leap of faith during these times we are currently in I believe it’s the best time to invest in yourself because after the pandemic I look at it as will you come out of it as more dangerous individual in the sense of learning new skills. Also, educating and conquering new challenges for yourself making you dangerous in whatever market you’re aiming towards.
Has it been a smooth road?
I will say it is a challenging road because we are in very tech-savvy climate with social media and millions of people are on these social networks. With that being said, how can you be successful in showcasing yourself in front of the general masses? What separates yourself from others that are pursuing the same dream? I just analyze the market than myself to see what do I have to offer to attract/gravitate people to my brand.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My current focus is on my new clothing brand Groovy Tribe I created about a month ago is still in the early stages. Now the cool part in my new project I am most proud of is my hidden talent as an illustrator with art of my own I collaborate with others to bring my ideas to life through my brand. What separates me from others is my versatility in my new apparel by taking something simple and put a remix on it making it more than what it was before. Now, one thing you need to know obviously is stay tune for my upcoming clothing. But also, new music in the works too as I create my first official solo project with release date TBA. In the mean time follow me on my journey because you never know what I’ll come up with next.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
LA is a place of opportunity because you have to apply what you know and network with others to utilize the resources around you. Like they say it’s not what you know but who you know. I feel you can use both to your advantage also applying the mentality of being a student to the game because you learn something new everyday. Los Angeles is a big place filled with a lot of people knowing someone that can help you with your business.
