Meet Khloe Thompson of Khloe Kares

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khloe Thompson.

Khloe, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started Khloe Kares because I noticed a homeless women on my way to school. I would ask my parents why she was our there and when I found out how she might of become homeless, I knew I needed to do something to help her. I started my organization at the age of 8 and 4 years later, I’ve helped thousands of women all over skid row.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. There has been so many bumps in the road. Being young its been hard to juggle school, my organization and being creative. Sometimes people don’t believe that it’s me that wants to help people who are experiencing homelessness. But it’s my passion to help those in need.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Khloe Kares – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I custom make tote bags for women experiencing homelessness. I host leadership workshops for kids who are interested in starting their own businesses. My workshop teaches leadership skills, the importance of public speaking and builds confidence. I also travel to Ghana once a year and I install water pumps and bathroom facilities in schools with no access to clean water. I’m most proud of other kids getting excited or motivated to start their own businesses. Knowing that I was the influence that got them going makes me happy. I think what sets me apart is that I’m a young girl who works hard and doesn’t take no for all answer. I work really hard and nothing came overnight for me. I never gave up and I never will.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Since starting Khloe Kares, I’ve been traveling to Ghana once a year. I have about 2 acres of land there and in the next couple of years, I’ll build and complete my community center in Ghana. As far as her in California, I plan to continue to host my events that support the homeless community and continue to help other kids with their missions.
