Today we’d like to introduce you to Keta Meggett.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Once I became an EMPOWERED Woman & felt “that” feeling, I made it my mission to Empower every Woman & Child that I ever met. Being Empowered with the knowledge of how to protect yourself is a GAME CHANGER. Before that I did not stand up for myself. I continuously found my self-thinking of what I “would of done, or said” and I was OVER it! My freshman year in High School I was bullied by a group of girls for being “mixed & light-skinned with nice hair”. It began with name-calling, then tagging mean things, then the physical pushes… until they beat unconscious and left me with a broken jaw, fractured shoulder blade, four broken ribs, and severely bruised pancreas and liver to the point of needing to be on enzymes for years after. It was horrible, humiliating, painful, and left me with PTSD. I was then afraid of everything and had no courage with a longing to feel happy again but didn’t understand anything anymore. I was in therapy for years, lots of counseling sessions and found a pattern in my life of not standing up for my self. Not until I became Pro-Wrestler “Keta Rush” The BULLY BUSTER on AXSTV’s WOW Superheroes and a martial artist specializing in 10th Planet No Gi Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Wrestling and Boxing did I ever feel so great in my own skin.
That is when I made it my mission in life to Empower Women & Children with the knowledge of how to protect themselves: Self-Defense. I started with friends & family, then schools, and seminars to then in 2017 opening the first & only Self Defense gym for Women & Children “Team Bully Buster Self-Defense” Studio City CA. Martial Arts is my life! I teach six days a week at my own Gym, play an MMA Fighter on HBO’s Room 104, am a Purple Belt under 1oth Planet’s Eddie Bravo and am and active Muay Thai Fighter, not to mention playing Superhero “Keta Rush” on WOW Superheroes. I hate that as young girls we are not taught what to do when faced with adversity or when someone is mean or crosses our boundaries. Well, NO MORE ME TOO… not if I have anything to do with it!
Everyday I’m blessed with being able to do what I love & at the same time I’m changing lives. Seeing the transformations happen right before my eyes in INCREDIBLE. A shy timid kid that barely speaks to then being outgoing and trying new things and being part of a “Team” That’s one of the coolest parts is that you’re on a Team when you go to Team Bully Buster. Hearing the testimonies from my students and clients of how their life has changed from the day they stepped into Team Bully Buster… that makes my heart smile.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s not been a smooth road but looking back, that’s actually the cool part where all the lessons were. Once my parents decided to get a divorce, about six months later my mom was hit by a car as she was crossing the street. She was in a coma for 39 days and just about everything was broken. Her recovery was long and painful and somehow it fell on me because I lived with my mom as my brother moved away with my dad. So starting my freshman year with that weight on me wasn’t cool. And, also why I didn’t share with my parents that I was getting bullied… my mom was clinging onto life. I thought there were bigger fish to fry… On my wall at Team Bully Buster it reads “You can turn anything negative into something positive, I did”.

I own Team Bully Buster Self Defense, the first gym for Women & Children to learn Self- Defense. We teach Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Wrestling & Boxing along with Strength and Conditioning. We have classes six days a week & teach at several schools around the LA area. We want every child to be kind, confident, brave and courageous with the knowledge of how to protect themselves. This world needs some great people and we are making them! We also have the honor of having UFC’s Coach Rod of Team Victory Muay Thai & Boxing run our striking program. It’s pretty cool to be able to learn from the best.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was happy, outgoing and filled with love. Super athletic and in love with every animal… Not much has changed HAHA! Well, I must say I worked very hard to be the Woman I am today… it wasn’t easy.
