Meet Kenton Rivas of Aquaman Leak Detection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenton Rivas.

Kenton, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Started Aquaman while substitute teaching and the beginning of getting my teaching credential. I thought it would be a good part time job or a part time summer job. Once I got my teaching career going… a few months in, we started realizing the need and potential for what we created…

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For the first few years, I did everything myself… the jobs and the scheduling… after a while, all the phone calls were burning me out and I hired a scheduler which was the best decision ever. I would never be able to go back and I was also missing a bunch of calls while on the job!

The winters are brutal. The pools are colder than the Pacific Ocean in the winter. While we are underwater, we are not moving since we are inspecting everything so a wetsuit doesn’t really have the chance to do what they do to warm you up so essentially you need a lot more wetsuit… and a lot more weights otherwise we’d freeze to death and without weights, we’d be bobbing around people’s pools.

Team members – It’s tough to come by a person that is capable and actually wants to take on the task of a leak detector for Aquaman Leak Detection. First thing first, they need to be a good person… they also need to be well spoken and have aquatic capabilities. It’s tough to come by a good team member but at the moment we have a great small team that keeps everything rolling and we all look out for each other.

Collecting payments & the general public at large – when dealing with the general public we have to be ready for all circumstances and people… whether it’s a pit bull in the backyard or someone hitting the invoice shuffle and avoid paying their bill…I guess you could say those that have done us wrong have set the foundation for certain job protocol…

Aquaman Leak Detection – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in finding leaks in swimming pools, jacuzzis, fountains and sometimes ponds. We are known for guaranteeing our service. If you have a leak and we cannot find it then there is no charge. This rarely happens because we are really good at what we do but we stand by that guarantee.

We are also well known for our gritty work ethic to find those hard to locate leaks and our thoroughness to locate all leaks the first time out. Many times, by the time we get called to do a leak detection there are multiple leaks…we know that, so we try to check every single thing that potentially could be leaking the first time out or when doing a real estate inspection for a future homeowner.

What sets us apart is first, our work ethic. Nobody works as hard as we do. We also have a patented method we use every job that helps us efficiently and effectively find leaks. Also, rarely do other companies have the capability every job to dive a pool or spa…we do! Without looking at everything and diving a pool or spa, one cannot be confident that all leaks were found.

We are proud to have the opportunity to save water and help our fellow man/woman.

We are blessed to have this opportunity here in Southern California and make the most of everyday. We feel we are by far and away the best company in this field and work hard to uphold this reputation.

We are also proud to consider ourselves a transparent company. We know being a homeowner can be tough and issues come up where we are needed again whether during a repair or months down the line. We work hard to work WITH our fellow neighbors out there around LA county. We are stoked to help!

We are proud to bring a good aloha spirit and attitude to every job site 🙂

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We define success in a few different areas…first we have to be able to put a roof over our heads and food in our bellies…but ultimately, we could be doing other things like teaching or working in some cubicle somewhere. We like what we do because it brings us a sense of fulfillment. We are stoked that we help out tremendously with our current drought/water crisis. We are also so stoked to be able to help people.

We feel that every day we are capable of learning and getting better and better. We’d like to expand with the help of good future team members to other areas where we are needed. Growth takes time and more importantly good hard-working people working together.
