Meet Kent Yoshimura of NeuroGum in Downtown Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kent Yoshimura.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kent. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
During college, I was training 4-5 hours a day after school in Judo and Muay Thai, traveling frequently to fight or train overseas. Balancing my studies in neuroscience with my martial arts career became overwhelming and looking for an effective way to get energy (and trying to steer away from energy drinks and “study drugs”), I found out about nootropics. I eventually began experimenting with every nootropic online, buying them in bulk, and capsulizing them in my room.

After college, I worked in film and music production, sleeping on couches, trying to make ends meet. One day while crashing at my friend’s house, I showed him the nootropics I took to help maximize my productivity. This led to a brainstorming session on making nootropics more accessible until we fell onto the idea of putting it into a gum. The rest is history.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I feel that business, like life, is never a smooth road. As expected, there were small bumps along the way, but our biggest struggle came when our business grew too fast, and we didn’t have enough inventory to fulfill the demands. We dug tooth and nail, answering customer service emails all day and night, calling suppliers and pleading with our manufacturers to see if we can figure anything out. With the amazing relationship we built, we were able to get back on track, but that was an extremely stressful time in our lives.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with NeuroGum – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
NeuroGum is the world’s first cold-compressed nootropic energy gum designed to keep your mind and body fresh. Unlike energy drinks, NeuroGum is vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, and aspartame-free. Our patented manufacturing process uses pressure instead of heat to retain the integrity of those ingredients you absorb, and since the active ingredients are absorbed through the mouth and not the stomach, chewers get their energy five times faster without the sugar crash or jitters.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Starting with our original “EnlightenMint (peppermint)” flavor, we’re looking to expand into “CinnaMental (cinnamon)” and “NooTropical (Tropical)” flavors. From there, we are already in the process of releasing a mint with the same effective ingredients.
