Meet Kenia Garnica of Wilshire Skyline

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenia Garnica.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey in Wilshire Skyline started about 3 years ago when I was hired as a Resident Manager for one of their properties in Hollywood Hills. I started as a part-time employee just doing leasing and simple accounting for one property. A few months into the job, Wilshire Skyline gave me the opportunity to assist in other major jobs, overseeing other projects in the various buildings they own and manage. Eventually, I started working at their corporate office, first as the Assistant to the Director of Operations, then quickly becoming a Project Manager with a focus on Marketing and Leasing.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like any other job, I have faced many challenges along the road. Everything that I do for the company I have learned on the job, I didn’t go to school for that, or had any experience. In fact, I am still trying to get my Bachelor Degree, for which I am grateful to have the opportunity to be a full-time student and employee. It has not been easy to manage a tight schedule but I know that there are so many people out there doing the same thing, hustling through life to achieve our goals and grow as individuals.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Wilshire Skyline – what should we know?
Wilshire Skyline is a service-forward property management company committed to quality in all things with all people – residents, vendors, and employees alike.

That is Wilshire Skyline’s mission statement; we actually came up with it as a group not too long ago. Although we are still a small company, we pride ourselves on providing quality service to our Residents.

I currently specialize in the Marketing, leasing and overseeing our online presence. As I mentioned before, we are still a growing company, trying to put our name out there little by little.

I think that, what sets us apart from others is that we take every prospect and resident seriously, and we try to offer the best service in helping them find a place they can call home in this beautiful city.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
All my accomplishment wouldn’t have been possible without the support of all my colleagues, who have all taught me everything they know about the industry. I want to give special thanks to one of them in particular, Alan Nissel, who offered me the job in the first place and who saw potential in me and helped me explore it.

He has been a mentor and supporter, answering most of the questions I’ve had, and helping me find the answers to the ones he did not know the answer for.
It really feels like working with family at Wilshire Skyline. Everyone helps one another.
