Meet Kendall Noel of “Chemistry” at Butterfly Loft Salon and Spa in Encino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Noel.

Kendall, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My passion for painting, drawing and sculpting lead me to the beauty industry. I knew that I had to create every day to feel complete and I loved the idea of using my artistic abilities to make people feel great about themselves.

No more than a week after graduating high school, I was attending Paul Mitchell San Diego and on the fast track to my career. Once licensed, I took advanced academy courses at Vidal Sassoon in Santa Monica. I fell in love with LA and moved up to become part of the action at 19 years old.

I was extremely lucky and blessed to land my first and only assistant position at Efoxx Hair in Sherman Oaks. Over the next 5 years, I built my clientele and grew into the stylist I am today in a collaborative and inspiring environment.

Today, I share a private suite at Butterfly Loft Salon with my friend and coworker from Efoxx Hair, Elise. I’ve been my own boss for a year now and still wake up every morning excited to create and put my skills to work.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I feel that choosing to be an artist of any kind is setting yourself up for a bumpy road. You have to stay self-motivated and have a strong work ethic. A lot of the time the path isn’t obvious and you will have to carve your own.

My biggest struggle along the way has been overcoming my social anxiety. I’m an introvert, so learning how to be a “people person” has been an area of growth for me.

I also struggle with overworking. Especially, now that I’m my own boss and can access my suite 24/7. Just yesterday, I started at 9:00 am and I was at the salon until 1:00 am finishing a color correction. This is still something I’m working to get in control of.

Please tell us about “Chemistry” at Butterfly Loft Salon and Spa.
The name of our suite is “Chemistry”. We chose this name because my coworker and I have a great chemistry together and we are doing chemistry all day. I specialize in color and cut. Anything from the most natural and subtle to creative and limit-pushing. Every appointment is a collaboration between myself and the client; 100% customized for their desires and lifestyle. I continue to take classes to stay on top of the trends to provide the best for my clients.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I have to say that I am really happy with how my career has developed. All the challenges along the way have only made it stronger and more worthwhile.
