Meet Kelly Bender of Pure Vitality Rejuvenation Center in Brentwood and Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Bender.

Kelly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My business partner, Dr. Heath McAllister, and I have always been passionate about helping people heal, not just manage symptoms but actually become healthier and stronger. We each had private practices but felt that there should be a way to bring this blend of cutting edge therapies (like Platelet Rich Plasma joint injections and Nutrient IVs) and ancient wisdom (using herbs and nutrition) to more people. We came up with the idea of Pure Vitality Rejuvenation Center where it’s our mission to make this kind of healthcare more accessible to the general public. Sure Kobe has access to PRP joint injections and celebs get nutrient IVs at home, but what about everyone else? We offer walk in IVs and Vitamin Shots that are always administered by one of the doctors and usually some additional tips of what to do at home to continue you’re healing. We started in April of 2015 in Brentwood and were immediately embraced by the community. It’s a very health conscientious area and we quickly became part of people’s routine….right after soul cycle and before their Earth Bar smoothy. We opened a location in Beverly Hills last September because let’s be honest, who wants to cross the 405?! We are continuing to expand and hope to offer a network of clinics so people can pop in no matter where they are in the city and know they are getting exceptional care.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being a doctor is hard. Being a business owner is even harder! Plus we didn’t have 4 years of medical school to prepare for it. There are always the hiccoughs of dealing with the city when building in LA and starting a new business. It takes twice as long as you thought. I would say the biggest struggle is getting the word out there. We’ve been open for almost 2 years and we still have people come in every day that say “I’m here all the time and never knew you did this!” Today people are constantly bombarded with information and pitches, you never know where to put your attention.

We are a clinic that specializes in therapies that help your body regenerate, rejuvenate, rebuild. We give the body what it needs to properly function, help identify the obstacles to your healing and remove them, allowing the body to make new and healthier cells. As Naturopathic doctors, we are trained not only in conventional diagnostics and treatments like pharmaceuticals but also in nutrition, herbs, mind-body therapies, etc. However, it’s not just the set of tools that makes us different, it’s how we approach a patient. We specialize in finding the reason behind the dysfunction. We offer nutrient IVs, vitamin shots, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) joint injections, PRP micro pen facials (similar to the vampire facial) as well as general consultations with specialty testing. Often people come in and say “I went to my doctor and he said I’m fine but I don’t feel fine”. We can help them identify what isn’t working optimally FOR THEM. We’re known for the most painless shots out there! So many of our patients have had vitamin shots elsewhere, and let’s be honest, vitamin B12 is vitamin B12. We do offer a number of customized formulas that have great results but people come back because they barely feel the injection. That’s a big deal! As a company, we’re really proud of our integrity. There are several other businesses out there in this space that cut corners but we refuse to. We’re able to have a competitive price because we’ve streamlined our processes and don’t try to “do it all”. We are very good at what we do but we don’t do everything. We refer to other specialists when necessary because our patient’s wellbeing is the most important thing. Dr. McAllister and I have both had extensive training in all of the specialty therapies we offer and you are always treated by the doctor, never a nurse or staff.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was always the mom of the group. I’m the middle child and the only girl with 4 brothers so it was natural for me to try and take care of everyone. I was in theater from the age of 5 until college and wanted to go into the musical theater but realized I probably couldn’t handle the rejection so I decided on medicine instead.
