Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith C. Harris.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Keith. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
INSPIRE OTHERS TO OVERCOME AND LIVE WELL – Yep, I created my own mantra 🙂
A few years back, after much soul searching, I realized my purpose was as “helper”. I didn’t have the details but I knew I was made to help. After overcoming some major life obstacles, one of which included losing 100 pounds, it all started to come together. That’s when my mission to INSPIRE OTHERS TO OVERCOME AND LIVE WELL was born. I literally started to approach every aspect of my life – education, friends, family, work – with this mantra in mind.
In September, while searching for a site to complete Psychology internship hours – I contacted a former school colleague who runs a non-profit community work program in Los Angeles for Developmentally Disabled workers called Giant Steps. She, Rene Richard and her husband Billy Richard gave me a tour and I LOVED it. I specifically loved that they created REAL jobs for members of our society that are normally and unjustifiably looked over.
After my internship, I didn’t want to leave because I knew that being a part of this organization was a major piece of my life’s puzzle – I knew that what I would learn at Giant Steps would play a major part in the development of my purpose.
In December, I started as the Business Manager/Director for Giant Steps’ newest company: The Cleen Out – a junk removal and hauling service – serving Los Angeles County. After a few weeks of business planning, we began operations in February 2017 and have since successfully completed more than 100 jobs! We are in high demand and are growing rapidly! We started with one truck and project to need 5 more trucks before the close of 2017 – and we are staffed by an incredible group of developmentally disabled workers who never cease to AMAZE me. This company and its’ mission falls right in line with my purpose and that feels amazing.
Has it been a smooth road?
HA! I scoff at that question! It has not been smooth or easy in any way but nothing worth achieving ever is, right?
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are primarily a junk removal and hauling service. Our customers mean EVERYTHING to us. How are we different than the 100 other junk removal services? We PROUDLY employ para-professionals and I love that!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles is great for a junk removal company because for the most part the weather is compliant 🙂
