Meet Kaylyn of Richwife

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylyn.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Creativity has always been a huge part of who I am. Ever since I was a kid, I was doing something creative—whether it was coding MySpace layouts, designing logos for friends, taking photos of everything around me… I just loved making things. That passion stayed with me as I got older. I studied graphic design and eventually landed a job at a startup in Minnesota doing content creation. It was one of those roles where I got to do a bit of everything, and I ended up becoming the head photographer, helping lead the creative direction for photo, video, and social media.

Eventually, my husband and I both felt called to build something of our own. So we picked up everything and moved to California to start fresh—he launched his business, and I started Kaykreative, my creative consulting company focused on helping brands elevate their visuals and tell better stories through photography, branding, video ads, and content creation.

Then in 2023, everything changed again—I became a mom. And after working behind the scenes for so many e-commerce brands over the years, I finally felt ready to create something for myself—that’s where Richwife began. My husband and I co-founded it together with the intention of redefining what it means to be “rich.” People often assume it’s about wealth, but for us, it’s about so much more—being rich in love, health, faith, memories, and meaning. And the name? I love that it gets people talking. Every time I wear it, someone stops me to ask about it or compliment it—it’s a conversation starter, and that’s exactly what we wanted.

Newport Beach felt like the perfect place to launch something like this. It’s a place where richness shows up in all kinds of ways—through success, yes, but also in slow mornings, beautiful weather, time with family, and personal growth.

Starting a brand while raising a newborn wasn’t easy, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m so proud of how far we’ve come, and I hope Richwife keeps evolving and sparking conversations about what it really means to live richly.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road—but I don’t think the best journeys ever are. One of the biggest challenges has been learning to navigate entrepreneurship while also stepping into motherhood. I had my daughter at the end of 2023, and starting Richwife after becoming a mom meant I was literally building a brand between feedings, nap schedules, and figuring out who I was all over again.

There were also moments of self-doubt—leaving behind a secure creative job, moving to California with no set plan, and betting fully on my own vision. It’s scary to put yourself out there, especially when you’re creating something that feels so personal. There are always days where I question if I am doing enough, growing fast enough, or even “doing it right.”

Although it can be a whirlwind of emotions, those tough moments teach me to trust my gut, lean into community, and take breaks when I need to. I’ve learned to give myself grace and stay grounded in why I started all this in the first place. And even though it’s been a challenge, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Every step, especially the hard ones, has brought me closer to the life and career I always dreamed of!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Richwife?
Richwife is a lifestyle brand my husband and I created to challenge the traditional idea of what it means to be “rich.” We’re not just making cute hats or cozy basics—we’re building a brand around a mindset. To us, richness isn’t just about money. It’s about living a life full of meaning: being rich in love, health, memories, faith, connections, and in self-worth. The name sparks curiosity, and we love that. It gets people talking, and it opens up space for a deeper conversation.

What sets Richwife apart is that every piece we create is rooted in intention. From the design to the messaging, it’s all about sparking confidence and connection. Our products are clean, wearable, and cool—but they also carry a message that people feel when they put them on. We’ve had customers tell us they wear their Richwife hat on their morning walk and get stopped every time. That kind of real-life energy is everything to me.

I’m most proud of how fast the brand has resonated, especially with people who want to feel empowered, seen, and a little bold. Whether you’re a mom, a founder, a student, or figuring it all out—you are a Richwife! And I want our brand to be a reminder of that kind of richness, every single day.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
So many people have helped bring Richwife to life, and I’m endlessly grateful.

First, my husband, Matthew—he’s been by my side through it all. We built this brand together, and he’s involved in every part of the process, from late-night brainstorming to day-to-day operations.

My sister-in-law Alix has been a huge support, helping us pack and ship orders so I can focus on the business and spend more time with our daughter. Even our parents have pitched in—coming over in the evenings to help us pack. That kind of support is something I don’t take for granted.

Regena, who we met while working in Minnesota, now helps with product development—sourcing, designing, and truly understanding our vision. She’s played a major role in bringing our pieces to life.

And of course, our friends, creative community, and customers—every person who’s worn Richwife, shared it, or cheered us on—you’ve been part of the journey, and we’re so thankful.
