Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolle Knight.
Nicolle Knight, also known as Katty Customs, is from Los Angeles, CA. She has been customizing sneakers since 2014 and has had the love for art since she was little girl. Her interest grew at the age 14 when her art teacher noticed her very detailed work. Painting and drawing was always something she liked to do on her spare of time. Before customizing shoes she was working on her clothing brand; by the Name of Katty Lenoir, where she would customize apparel for TV shows, movies and upcoming artist. Later down the line, she decided to take her customs to another level by adding sneakers to her collection. Since then she has grown even more as an artist and has gained so much clientele throughout the years.
Her intricate work led her to work with more celebrities and athletes and to know that she doesn’t mask off with tape really shows her talent as an artist. Her color combos are to die for and you can tell Katty has an eye for picking colors and creating masterpiece sneakers.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When starting your own business it always has its ups and downs but the key is to never give up. I’ve learned sacrifice and give up the things I’d do on a day to day basis to become someone I never thought I could be. Learning self-control and staying focused. I focused on my skills to further develop and utilize what is at my disposal to create the best me. In that process revealed my strengths and weaknesses and will be better equipped to harness both as I strive to achieve my calling…Even to this day, I’m still learning new skills and enhancing my talent.
Katty Customs – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Katty Customs is a Shoe Repair/ Customizing Company. We are now for unique designs and color ways to make sneakers, heals or even clothing stand out in the crowd. My most proud moment as a company is being sponsored by one of the biggest sneaker paint (leather acrylic paint) companies out there “Angelus Direct”. What sets me apart from other custom sneaker companies is that I do everything by hand, every single design is hand-painted without using airbrush machine or tape to customize sneakers my designs are original and stands out at the same time giving customer a sense of satisfaction when purchasing or viewing sneakers on the web, not to mention all my customs don’t crack or peel during or after wear l. And I also offer classes to those who want to learn how to customize shoes, whether they want to start their own business or like to learn it for fun.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was being able to get my own store location.
