Meet Katie and Erick Padilla of Arthur Murray Montrose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie & Erick Padilla.

Erick and Katie have worked for the Arthur Murray Franchise for a combined 30 years (18 & 12 years respectively). They are Arthur Murray Salsa and Argentine Tango champions among other titles. In 2012 they began their journey towards studio ownership. In October 2016, they opened their doors to pursue their mission which is to enhance lives through the art of social dancing!

Has it been a smooth road?
The hardest part was finding a landlord that would take a risk on us. We didn’t look too great on paper even though we had a decent amount of money saved and an SBA Loan lined up. Starting on a new venture that you’ve never done before is like walking through the woods in the dark; you can’t see where to take the next step but you know as long as you keep walking you’ll end up somewhere beautiful!! The challenges we faced taught us valuable lessons that we continue to benefit from.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Arthur Murray Montrose – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Arthur Murray is the world leader in social dance lessons for adults and has been teaching the world to dance for 105 years. We specialize in turning non-dancers, including those with two left feet, into competent and even highly desirable social dancers. Many of our students still remember watching Arthur and Kathryn Murray’s TV show “The Arthur Murray Party” in the 1950’s. Kathryn Murray always finished the show by saying, “Put a little fun in your life, try dancing.” Aside from teaching dancing, we help people improve their physical health, provide a social network of people with common interests and shed the stress of daily life, just to name a few of the benefits our students have received from taking lessons at Arthur Murray.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What is not to like about Montrose? It’s a small town feel with big city amenities! Arthur Murray is all about creating a “family” of dancers. We are like Disneyland (the happiest place on earth) and Cheers (where everybody knows your name) all rolled into one. We feel that Montrose has that feel as well so it’s a match made in heaven!!
