Meet Katie Baumez of Brow Arc in Torrance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Baumez.

Katie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We started with just one cart in a mall in Santa Rosa, CA. We had only 3 employees at the time. From there, we expanded into more locations in Northern California. We initially started with carts, then added kiosks, and now most of our locations are salons.

We expanded into Southern California and Washington in 2010, Florida in 2011, and Colorado in 2014. We have added many locations and now we have almost 200 employees!

We started off doing mostly just threading and henna. We offer threading memberships which our customers love since they’re such a great deal. Many of our salons also create beautiful henna designs. We added makeup and lashes to some of our salons, and some also do waxing.

In 2013 we launched our first dry bar, offering hair styling, cuts, and color. We opened our 2 locations in Del Amo mall just recently in 2015 and 2016.

We now have 22 Brow Arc Salons, plus 8 full-service salons offering our full range of services, and we are opening 2 more in the upcoming month!

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for us!

Has it been a smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Not at all, I don’t think any business ever is. You name an obstacle, we’ve probably run into it. Anything from construction to landlords to not being able to find employees to slow months business-wise, we’ve seen it all. I think if you are doing anything in life if you are trying to create something or make something or succeed at something, you will come across difficulties. We all fail and we all make mistakes. We all come across things that were totally unexpected and impossible to plan for.

But the key is to keep going, keep overcoming those obstacles and try to come out better and stronger on the other side of it. And of course, always have fun and appreciate everything that you do have 🙂

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in threading. That is what most of our customers know us for, and most of our customers are threading membership holders. They love our memberships because it offers them a way to save money on something that many get done on a regular basis. We offer 6 session memberships and 3-month memberships where customers can come in an unlimited number of times. We just added 1-month unlimited memberships as well!

In addition to threading, we offer henna, makeup, lashes, and waxing.

At select Brow Arc Dry Bar locations, like those at Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, we offer haircuts, color, and styling. Plus we have a specialized selection of hair products that we love.

Our salons in Socal are known for their upscale atmosphere and exceptional customer service.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, we do. It’s exciting being a part of LA, and we appreciate the glamour and style of our customers here! We feel very supported by this community, and we love being in the brand new side of Del Amo….such a gorgeous place to do business!
