Thanks for sharing your story with us Kathleen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Working as a Registered Nurse, I needed time for myself and an “outlet” from what can be a rewarding but often heartbreaking profession. Nature’s beauty soon became “just what the Dr. ordered”. I bought my first camera and took to the road taking landscape photos and enjoying the beauty and solitude of it all.
Soon I desired to involve people and grew to love the challenges of photographing weddings, children, and families.
Today I feel my nursing career has brought me to a better understanding of people, helping me to connect with them through photography. I love working with all ages and creating memories for a lifetime. Do I still love landscape Photography, yes, I do!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Success never comes easy! Offering services for free, hitting the pavement for clients, and trying to balance the costs of doing business has not been easy but I love the challenge!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kathleen Walter Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company is a partnership with my husband who is also my business manager. We love doing all types of photography with weddings being one of our favorites. I have my certification in wedding photography from the New York Institute of Photography and have been published in local magazines and have won numerous local photo competitions.
I pride myself in being honest, maintaining a business license, and have the best camera gear there is!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am currently re-branding and updating my website and my hopes are for more weddings! I love weddings!!!
