Today we’d like to introduce you to Katerina Curry.
Hi Katerina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I arrived in the US from Eastern Europe in 2007, my heart and mind wide open to new possibilities. Back home, I’d earned a law degree, but moving to a new country gave me a rare chance to choose: stick with law or try something completely different. I chose to follow my creative spark. The opportunities here were overwhelming in the best way, and I dove into my passion for working with my hands. Metal allergies led me to craft jewelry for myself, and I soon discovered I wasn’t alone in needing skin-friendly designs. With nudges from friends and family, I started selling my creations. In 2020, I launched LeSilveStone—named for my favorite materials: leather, silver, and stones. The business grew, and so did I. Adding a men’s jewelry line came naturally, inspired by stylish men in my family who wanted pieces of their own, and it gave my brand a big boost. Today, LeSilveStone is a modern jewelry brand for men and women, built on a timeless, classic aesthetic.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I started like many jewelry makers, setting up at art shows and festivals, then moving to bigger events and conventions. Over time, I fully transitioned to online sales with made-to-order pieces, which gave me more flexibility and creative freedom. I didn’t have to craft piles of jewelry upfront, guessing what might sell, and it cut down on physical work. That shift was a lifesaver when COVID hit—my online business was already running smoothly. I spent years building on Etsy and recently tackled the challenge of learning e-commerce platforms to launch my own website. The toughest part of this journey has been the business side—balancing my love for art and creative expression with the discipline and responsibilities of running a business. Even with occasional help and my family’s invaluable support, LeSilveStone is mostly a one-woman show, and there are always so many moving pieces. I’m the designer, maker, and everything in between, wearing every hat you can imagine. It hasn’t been smooth sailing. The workload and responsibilities can wear you down, and there were times I wanted to quit. But every time I hit that wall at that very moment, I’d get a sign—a random message from a customer literally saying, “Keep doing what you do”, a heartfelt letter praising my work, or a glowing review from someone thrilled with their jewelry and my service. Those moments are my fuel. Knowing my creations make customers smile drives me to keep going, one day at a time. Their joy makes my day!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
LeSilveStone jewelry is designed and made in my home studio in Southern California, just outside the greater LA area—a place people recognize, though I ship worldwide. I specialize in men’s and women’s jewelry, working with 925 sterling silver, 14K gold fill, and 14K gold, but I’m not limited to those. I love exploring other materials and textures, introducing something new to my customers and staying open to collaborations or custom orders that spark fresh ideas. Many of my earrings come as single options for stacked looks or single piercings, adding a modern twist. I describe my designs as timeless with a contemporary flair, sometimes with a touch of edge. Rather than chasing trends, I create pieces that empower people to express their personal style. Your look for the day—it’s all about what feels right. To me, jewelry is the finishing touch that completes an outfit, and I want my pieces to be that perfect touch.
What sets me apart—and what I’m most proud of—is my commitment to quality, attention to detail, exceptional customer service and premium materials. I prioritize US-made components, ensuring every piece is crafted with care. I test designs for comfort and durability, often wearing them myself or having family try them out to confirm they’ll stand the test of time. That’s why I choose materials like 925 sterling silver, 14K gold fill, 14K gold, genuine leather, and natural stones—they’re built to last for generations with simple care. As an artist, I’m always learning, experimenting, refining my skills, learning new ones and evolving, which keeps my work fresh and lets customers discover something new with every collection.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I never found a traditional mentor in my field, so I had to learn the ropes and carve my own path. Over time, I built what Tim Ferriss calls a “Tribe of Mentors”—a group of inspiring people I admire, follow, and learn from. Their wisdom has shaped not just my business but every part of my life. One such influence is Tony Robbins, whose work introduced me to a community of driven, like-minded individuals. That connection was a game-changer, showing me I don’t have to walk this road alone. My advice? You don’t need someone to hold your hand—just stay open to learning. Be a student, listen closely, and seek out mentors all around you, whether through books, talks, or communities. Growth happens when you’re willing to absorb and apply what resonates.
