Today, we’d like to introduce you to Kash Hovey. Kash was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Lisa Malcolm.
Kash , thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
I grew up in Los Angeles. As a kid I was always drawing, building, and re-creating scenes from TV. My parents were in the entertainment industry also. My father, Gary Hovey was Executive Vice-President/Entertainment & Music Publishing for Elvis Presley Enterprises and headed up the Los Angeles office. My mother also worked for EPE as well as for Johnny Carson, the Beach Boys and is now the executive producer of “On Air with Ka$h.” I was exposed to the business at a young age. I was always doing things that were creative whether it was filming movies, photography, writing, and performing. I participated in an acting showcase when I was 15 and got my first agent soon after. I booked some commercials in high school and then I attended CSUN and studied business law, cinema, and graduated with a Communication Studies degree. While in college I had various jobs including modeling, construction, public relations, production, and editing. I began working at William Morris Endeavor after I graduated and really began to understand the business side of the entertainment industry. A colleague who I met through the agency asked me to play a part in a film they had written and were producing titled “Undatebale John,” with Shannen Doherty and Joan Jett. After that film wrapped, I was offered a lead in their next film “Jack and Cocaine.” After completing these two films I shifted focus to acting, producing and editing. I’ve been very fortunate to work with some incredibly talented artists and filmmakers. When everything closed due to the Pandemic, I began hosting my show “On Air with Ka$h.” We have filmed over 100 episodes to date and I have been asked to guest host on other talk shows as well as events.
Alright, so we’d love to learn more about your acting career. What should we know?
Those first two films “Jack and Cocaine” and “Undateable John,” were shot back to back and really was a milestone for me as far as starting my acting career. I began developing content and booking acting roles consistently including the series “Another Blackout” with Katherine Bailess from “Hit the Floor” and “Before I Got Famous” with Anthony Ma. I got to work with Shari Belafonte on “Plastic Daydream,” which I also produced. Currently I’m developing a feature titled “The Listening” with Jax Malcolm who wrote the script and will be starring in it as well. The thing I love about acting is creating characters and connecting with other artists.
Lisa Malcolm and Lynk PR have been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Lisa Malcolm and Lynk PR and your experience with them.
After I filmed my first two feature films, I started to get invited to premieres and events in Hollywood. I attended different film festivals and began to observe how public relations worked. I met Lisa Malcolm around the time I was doing publicity for a film I had just done titled “As in Kevin.” We’d be at some of the same events and we began a friendship. Lisa and I began working together when I started “On Air with Ka$h” and she had started Lynk PR. Some of her clients were guests on my show, events were opening back up, and we began creating content and collaborating with each other. Lisa grew up in the valley like I did and we had some similar experiences in the industry which is part of the reason why we click. Lisa has been very supportive and helpful to me while I’ve been navigating new chapters of my life and career. We’ve worked together on multiple festivals, events, and film endeavors. Lisa always has great ideas and knows how to get things done. The team at Lynk PR really has become a second family to me.
