Today we’d like to introduce you to Kartar Diamond.
Kartar, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been interested in metaphysical topics as well as design and architecture. The mystical practice of Feng Shui intersects the physical and the ethereal and I felt I had a calling to practice and teach it right away.
I had the good fortune to study with several wonderful Asian and European masters, starting in 1990 before Feng Shui became trendy. Having taught Feng Shui classes to over 10,000 students in Southern California, this alone launched my consulting career. People have found me over the Internet as well and now a large percentage of my clientele are spread across the nation and world.
I am the author of three books, six e-books, and have my own on-line mentoring program as well. I’ve worked with architects, designers, realtors and others in complementary professions.
With over 5,000 clients, I am one of the most experienced Feng Shui consultants in the world and I am so grateful to the open-minded communities in Los Angeles and all of Southern California for me to help them in their private lives and businesses.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have been very lucky to have had mostly a smooth road in developing my business and I said a long time ago that I have exceeded my expectations. Word of mouth recommendations have trumped any marketing ventures I tried, as well as the response to my books. People know when they read my books that the author is not just passing along information, but one who has real experience.
Feng Shui is still not understood very well by the general public, even with all its exposure over the last twenty or so years. There are still a lot of myths, superstitions, and diluted forms of Feng Shui which are hardly recognizable in relation to the original traditions. So, educating the public may be the only continuous struggle; hence the title of my first book, Feng Shui for Skeptics: Real Solutions Without Superstition.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Feng Shui Solutions story. Tell us more about the business.
My company, Feng Shui Solutions, is a full-service Feng Shui business in the sense that I help people make adjustments to their existing residential and commercial property, as well as help people house hunt, advice on remodeling plans, choosing land, and even help selling properties. Years ago, I was a Preferred vendor with Coldwell Banker and I have been a guest speaker at many real estate functions.
For clients in Southern California, I visit the property in person, provide recommendations right on the spot, and follow up with a comprehensive written report which will be valid for decades. For my long distance clients, they will send me a floor plan, photos, and I go on-line to verify the precise magnetic compass reading of the property or land. The compass is the essential tool of the trade, as so many Feng Shui conclusions are made in relation to direction. I also provide annual update reports to clients because energy does shift a little in every structure from year to year.
All of the analysis and recommendations are geared toward understanding how people are influenced by their environments (health, relationships, finances) and how to optimize every space so that it is working for the person and not against them.
What sets me apart from other practitioners is my level of training, experience, affordability, and also being a practical, down-to-earth person.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I do believe that Feng Shui will experience another resurgence of interest and popularity in the coming years. It may be some event or endorsement on a grand scale that will make popular culture or fields in science and healing want to investigate Feng Shui again. Right now, I have fellow peers who want to “re-name” Feng Shui into a more scientific term, so that the general population will not be so skeptical of its ancient Chinese origin.
Feng Shui can even be used beyond the individual structure and as a predictive art it can expand into applications for cities, regions and even a whole country. As this interview is taking place, Hurricane Harvey is causing historic destruction in the south section of the United States. That was very predictable using Feng Shui calculations. So, perhaps respect for Feng Shui will increase when people learn that it can portend natural disasters, political events, economic shifts and things that affect all of us.

Kartar has a wealth of knowledge and her books are the best out there for the general layperson. She also has wonderful taste and design sense which are a huge bonus. I have used Kartar’s services for a decade for both property selection and remedying properties and have full confidence in making referrals. She is a gem!

Sifu Kartar has rightly and fittingly all but assumed the mantle of succession to GMmLarry Sang. her dedication and yes the years and her life given to FengShui speaks for itself. But she has her entirely unique approach to FS issues which is both analytical and intuitive. And she has the open mindedness of a child to probe other disciplines that compliment FS. Her books are really an archive of FS insights which the informed and experiencially FS student can keep returning to again and again, each time revealing her depth of experience!!! Now that is the reason I respect her as Sifu in every sense of the word implied!!!!
