Meet Karla Anahi of Arani Jewelry in Pasadena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karla Anahi.

Karla, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am the 21-year old owner and creator of Arani Jewelry working out of Pasadena and other surrounding cities in Los Angeles. Being within a creative path is something I have always wanted and strived to achieve. I have both Mexican and Guatemalan backgrounds, the duality of these two cultures has allowed me to tap into areas of myself and where I come from that serve as the main source of my motivation.

Coming from immigrant families really made me understand the privilege and capabilities I have grown up here in Los Angeles. My main source of inspiration comes from women, especially my mom because of all her hard work and strength. These qualities have allowed me to recognize my potential and fully believe in myself. My intent when creating Arani was for it to be more than a business, but a brand that speaks to others and serves as inspiration.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building a business from the ground up is ever easy, but I wouldn’t necessarily say that it’s hard either. I stand firm in believing in yourself and never losing sight of your goals or purpose, this has allowed me to enjoy every bit of my personal journey. I remind myself that doing what I love should never be a draining experience, but one that I can learn and grow from. However, at times real-life responsibilities get in the way and can hinder the process. I currently am at CSUF full-time, I work, run a small business, all while trying to keep myself sane! There is a lot to do when running a small business all on your own. From photoshoots to packaging orders and putting out content, I find myself saying, “damn, I really do this!” I do receive a ton of support from the people around me which I am so grateful for. I definitely wouldn’t be able to do what I do if it wasn’t for them!

Arani Jewelry – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Arani Jewelry is a modern jewelry brand that focuses on women (for now) and aims to capture their beauty and uniqueness. We view jewelry as a form of expression and simply more than just an accessory. Our jewelry is along the lines of statement pieces that can elevate an outfit or be used in a casual way. The versatility is real. I would say that is the aspect that sets us apart because there is no one path or “aesthetic” for Arani. I simply create and share my personal ideas which are constantly evolving. Everything comes natural when it comes to creating with Arani, I really do admire everyone I have worked with thus far. I think of our shoots as the most special part because it is more of a collaboration. I am definitely most proud of our growth, we have come so far and will only continue to be better with time. I am excited to see where this path will take us.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I don’t think I have any set proudest moments because everything I do with Arani makes me proud lol. Again, I would say I am proud of our growth and the fact that people can receive our messages in a positive light.
