

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karl Niehaus.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My father was a developer in South Africa, so I grew up surrounded by the real estate business and was always fascinated by real estate. In 2003 after graduating from Pepperdine University, I started in commercial real estate by working as a broker with Marcus & Millichap. At the same time, I also worked as an on-site apartment manager, managing various apartment buildings from 20 – 63 Units. In 2006, I was recruited to join National Equity Advisors, Inc (NEA), where I was promoted to a Senior Advisor and headed up the leasing department. I was there for a number of years and in 2011, I created CREI. CREI has grown ever since and offers clients sales, leasing and property management expertise for commercial properties.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing is a smooth road, so there have been some bumps in the road as we have added to our team and expertise. The challenge is always being able to service clients to the highest standards while adding more services and finding the right experts to provide those additional services.

What were you like growing up?
I was quite shy growing up, which is interesting now as I feel I have grown more and more in confidence and now am more and more social. I have always loved learning and still do. I think that is one of the things that help me the most, the fact that I always want to know more.
