Meet Karin Iranpanah of Seven Haircare in Greater Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karin Iranpanah.

Karin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was a full-time student attending California State University, Northridge, in need of a part-time job. I applied to an ad posted on Craigslist seeking a receptionist at a hair salon in Pasadena, CA. I thought it would be an easy, fun and very temporary job, boy was I wrong! During the 9 1/2 years I was employed there, I learned about the business end of running a successful salon and I enjoyed being a salon manager. I graduated from CSUN with a Public Health degree but my work experience was in the fashion and beauty industry, making it very difficult to be considered for a position in the health field.

In 2009, I was hired by a hair smoothing company as an outside sales representative for the greater Los Angeles and Palm Springs region. The next 5 years were a learning opportunity for me. I was able to refine my skills in communication, planning education, promoting events, and building relationships with stylists and salon owners to help them increase their revenue.

This August will mark my 3 year anniversary with Seven Haircare, a boutique, luxury hair care brand! As the Account Executive for the greater Los Angeles territory, I continue to work with salons to offer their clients a salon exclusive brand that gives them 3 dimensional, healthy hair without the heavy, sticky, editorial feel.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t exactly been a “smooth road.” I’ve had to deal with rejections on a daily basis, communicating with people with different personalities, and getting over the fear of public speaking to name a few! I honestly wouldn’t trade in my “bad days” for anything else because they have taught me to be a stronger, patient, confident and more effective communicator. The bad days are what make the good days even sweeter.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Seven Haircare – what should we know?
SEVEN Haircare started in our Seattle-based SEVEN salon which quickly grew from a crew of nine stylists to a full, thriving team of 65. As we expanded, we outgrew the heavy, sticky products that had been designed to please a small audience of professionals needing rigid, photo-ready styles. We wanted a change, and so did our clients.

We wanted touchable, luxurious, naturally three-dimensional hair. We wanted products that made our hair look great and feel great.

So we created them – products with high-performance formulations that work for stylists, but also make it easy to create healthy, elegant, lightweight looks at home.

We are continually crafting, testing and refining formulas to create products you love to use. Whether creating ocean-kissed waves, chic chignons, or glossy curls – our products give you everything you need to let your unique beauty shine through.

The definition of style is you.®

As an Account Executive for Seven Haircare, I visit salons 5 days a week, talking to stylists and salon owners, letting them know who we are and what we have to offer to their business. Not only do we provide sulfate, paraben, and dye-free products, we coach our partner salons by providing education both business-related as well as technical how-tos in cutting and styling.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My biggest supporters, cheerleaders, and advocates have been my clients. When they are happy with the company they are doing business with, they let their fellow hairstylist friends know about the products and refer me. There is no greater compliment than a referral!
